Exciting Words and Phrases that will Help you Sell

Successful salesmen have always been considered as being blessed with the "gift of the gab". It isn't enough that you have a great product; you need to sell it and to do this you need to attract attention to the product or service you want to sell.

This is where salesmanship comes in. Without salesmanship, even an excellent product will flounder; it will either take time to launch itself, or will fail altogether. Salesmanship is a quality necessary not just for the door to door salesman, but for the writer of the online sales page as well. The only difference being that the words are written instead of being spoken.

Words must be carefully selected to catch the attention of the browser. Here are some choice words and phrases that should help you do the trick:

1. Exchange it for: This phrase reassures your customer. This offer is important in an online business because the customer does not get to actually see the product he is buying. So when you make such an offer, he feels reassured about the integrity of your business.

2. Exciting adventure: People like excitement and adventure, some people all the time. Descriptions using this phrase can work up an anticipation to experience an adventure by buying the service offered.

3. Exciting: This word can be used to describe special offers and promotions. People are always attracted to promotions and the right terminology can build a desire for the product being offered. The word will at least catch the customer's eye and make him read what you have to say.

4. Excessively: Although a little tricky, the word can be effective when used in the right context.

Copy That Sucks: Avoid These Mistakes

Do You Want To Annoy Your Readers?

Every skill and talent needs honing through a continuous process of trial and error. Successful copywriting isn't any different, for writing successful copies is a skill in itself.

It would certainly help to look at the copies of some successful sales writers and make a few notes on how they write their pages. Remember, a successful copy isn't just a well written one, it is rather a copy that is able to generate sales or convert readers into customers and this is possible even with copies that have faulty grammar. The key lies in the attractiveness of the copy to the reader and in how succinctly the message is conveyed.

Here are a few tips on how some common mistakes can be avoided:

Split test copies

Copywriters often make the mistake of putting out just one version of a sales copy and place all their chances on it. This is risky. It would be better instead to check the response to the copy that has been put out and if the response is not satisfactory, to make some changes in it. Some revisions may be needed, but hey, why not if it is going to improve you sales conversion? Sometimes changing the headline is all that is required.

Make reader-friendly sections

This means breaking the copy down into readable and catchy sections. Prospective customers won't take the trouble to read copious paragraphs. They need information, and they need it quickly, else they have their hand on the mouse to click on another site. Explain the main message of the copy in a nutshell as fare as possible. Use subheads for an easy display and Johnson boxes for testimonials.

Attractive templates

Use attractive displays. It can be as important as the copy itself, because when a page opens, the display catches the eye first, then the content. An unattractive display can make a reader close the page without even looking at the copy. So use eye-catching and relevant templates and you can be sure the reader will move to the copy.

Following these guidelines will ensure the basics are in place. Once this is done, the rest can be built upon.

Emotional Writing to Persuade

Yes! Words That Work

Buying is an emotional decision. It is logic that makes a customer come to you for something he has decided he needs, but the decision to actually open his wallet and pay for a product is an emotional one.

As a copywriter you need to consider the importance of emotions in order to produce effective copies. When you understand the key emotions involved, you will know how to tap into them to effectively persuade the customer.

Sincerity and lucidity

To do this, your writing must be sincere as well as lucid. This gives transparency to your writing. When a prospective customer gets the feeling that nothing is hidden, he becomes convinced of your sincerity and that is an important emotion to evoke, because it will make him open up to your product and to what you have to say about it.

Empathy

To be transparent and sincere, you need to place yourself in his shoes. Understand what it is that he wants. Why might he want it? Why has he come to you for it? What questions and concerns will he have? When you write, empathize with the customer and show them how your product will be of help, don't just list facts and figures (although a little of this too might help, particularly with a certain brand of customers).

Convince and persuade

To convince and persuade with sincerity, you need to learn all you can about the product you are trying to sell, including its disadvantages so that you can write with insight.

To effectively persuade the prospective customer into making a purchase through your copy, you must decide on what emotions you want to evoke in him and then write to evoke those emotions.

At the same time, take care that you yourself feel as strongly about the product as you are trying to convince the buyer, for if you yourself aren't convinced in the first place, it will reflect in your writing.
