VSA is a new dynamic advertising medium that produces movie-like presentations from digital still photos of vehicles with zoom and panning effects. Car dealers are now able to show their premier vehicles online to customers without them having to leave the comfort of their homes.
"All the consumer needs is an Internet connection and a VSA direct-link and the


rest is as easy as tying your shoe," states Russ Randolph, who is partnering with Tom Determan of Florida Auto Advertiser.com on the project.

"Streaming video is rapidly changing the way online auto retailing is viewed," Randolph said. "Car dealers aren't selling widgets; they're selling exciting, fun products," he says. "It's difficult to convey that emotion with just text and pictures associated with common print ads."
Progressive car dealers realize that the Internet is where today's customers are initiating the pursuit of buying a new vehicle, only to find a variety of websites complex and hard to navigate. "Often, the consumer becomes confused and leaves the site feeling frustrated," says Tom Determan of Florida Auto Advertiser.com. "Soon as the consumer becomes aggravated with a website, they lose complete interest and 'with a click of the mouse' they're gone. That's where we're different, Determan states, once the customer enters the VSA direct-link; the dealer's presentation is fully automated."
By eliminating all internet distractions, VSA allows the customer to view all vehicle presentations with pristine resolution resonating with relaxing music.

Who's Watching Now
The share of current U.S. Internet users who watch online videos will rise from 72 percent to 85 percent by 2010, predicts eMarketer, an online media research firm in New York. Popular web sites such as YouTube and Google Video have consumers comfortable to absorbing marketing messages through streaming video.
Randolph says dealers pay a nominal set-up fee of under $300 and a one-time cost of $59 per vehicle presentation for this technology. Each vehicle is assigned its own URL that the dealer can advertise in print ads, distribute to customers on the lot, or email out to prospects.
"A salesperson can write the URL on the back of his business card, and the customer can re-view the vehicle they were looking at on the lot more closely at home," Randolph said. "Salespeople can call prospects at home and relay the URL of a particular vehicle they want that prospect to see. Prospects can go directly to the presentation to see the vehicle without all the distractions typically found on a web site."
