Balance Your Ads with Content

The secret to building a profitable blog is to become known as the "content provider" for your chosen niche. You'll find people flocking to your site and to your products if you produce quality content and recommend quality products. You'll be successful if you strive to balance your ads with content.

There are thousands of people using Adsense and Amazon on their blogs to earn a profit but very few are actually building a business and advertising correctly. Don't think you need more ads on your site then content. This isn't link farming - you're building a viable business of quality websites.

Some potential customers may be turned off from your site if you have too much blatant advertising. You also don't want to hide the ads because no one will see them. The secret to advertising on your blog or website is to place the ads in places that compliment the content. Think of ads as images. Images (and ads) are great on your site but it the site is all images (or ads), you've got nothing more than a sometime to look at quickly and leave.

Blogging for profit can be very tricky. Blogging for profit is something between an art and a science. You really need to think about where and how to position your ads. People generally look in certain places and never look in others. You may have to try different layouts for your ads before you find the secret sauce that appeals to your customers. It will probably take you weeks to determine the best placement for your ads but the time you spend now testing ad content is research for your next site.

How Much Are You Going to Make?

There is no promise or formula to use to plan how much money you will make blogging. With most advertising programs, you'll be paid a small amount each time a customer clicks on a link.

Google, of course, keeps a great deal of secrecy regarding how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click. It all depends on how much the advertisers are willing to pay and how popular your topic and niche is.

While there's no way to determine how much you'll make before you make it, you can generally make a safe assumption that if you have a lot of clicks and visits to your site each day you'll be making money.

Blogging can indeed make you money, but you need traffic, and that takes time and dedication. If you write about different topics, you might need multiple blogs, so that each can focus on it's own niche, rather than a single blog that covers anything and everything.
