4 Steps To Discovering A Profitable Niche
In a 1 sentence explanation a profitable niche is a market where you can sell your product or service to people who desperately need your products or services.
Of course you need an idea of a niche first before you can decide if it's profitable or not. But once you have that follow this 4 steps to evaluate it.
1. Buyers - Are people actively spending money in this market currently for products or services. Look to forums and your competitors in the second step to see what the buzz is and to see what people are buying or want to buy.
2. Competition - Are there people actively selling products or services to the market. Competition is a good sign that this is a profitable niche. Competition is a good thing. It's your job as the marketer to separate and brand yourself as the best in that market.
3. Products - What type of products can you offer? Can you offer a variety of products at different price points or are you limited?
4. Traffic - Is there an easy way to get traffic to this market that's not so expensive. SEO will take you a while to see results and if PPC is too costly what are you're other options. Can you do JV's, buy text links, banner ads, ezine ads etc.
If you're looking to build a small niche site selling a low priced ebook then of course you'll be looking for less things than someone who is looking to sell a multitude of products at different price points in that niche.
