Here is a picture from my last extended trip through South America. Currently I am living on a 100% internet based living. Getting to this point was not always easy, but I now live a lifestyle that I love with minimal work and maximal enjoyment. I am at this moment in Ireland nearly half way through a 8 month tour of Europe, I work every single day on this trip, but never for more than 2 hours a day, and some days mere minutes. I truly believe that my "watershed" moment came at the point that I truly understood, "profitable niches" and stopped "fumbling around" and struggling to make money and began to make a steady and passive income from my efforts. To achieve this success yourself there are three things that you will need to learn to be able to find, discover and identify a profitable niche.

Traffic Your business will die without traffic. Ask any business owner who has failed what happened and he will almost always say, "Lack of customers." Narrow and defined niches are awesome, perhaps even the narrower the better, to a point. But you need to have a business model with the potential to drive at least some people to your doorstep each and every day.

Commerciality If people in your niche spend a lot of money and spend it easily, this can make up for a lack of traffic to a certain extent. More people buying and spending more will equal out or trump the decreased volume. Commerciality needs a few things to be a positive factor. People reaching your site primed and ready to purchase. You have the product that they are looking for, even if they do not know it coming in, they see your product and say "that is what I have been looking for". Finally knowing the things that will actually sell within your niche.

Competition Do not fight losing battles. Many markets have a ton of money to be made in them; they have great commerciality. The bad part is that most everyone who does internet marketing knows about these niches and they are simply over saturated with people, most of them knowledgeable on how to succeed. You should not run away from competition, just make sure you enter markets where the obstacles are able to be overcome.

Narrow niche The need for a narrow niche can sometimes be essential in finding a profitable niche. Commerciality is the main reason behind this need for a narrow niche, but it also is great for reducing completion too, and even directing a certain amount of traffic. A narrow niche is a profitable niche because when people reach your site, they will know what they want when they get there, not have a vague idea and just be searching for more information.
