Where did the Progressive Flo Bobble Head come from?

Progressive Flo is one of the most iconic figures from advertising of all time. She is a quirky character whose wonderfully friendly attitude is perfect for creating a family feel for the Progressive Brand. The advertising is amazing, and even those who hate her know who Progressive Flo is, and therefore the advertising has done its job and created a buzz (whether good or bad) that is viral.

Do a search on Youtube and not only will you find all the Progressive Ads, but you'll also find hundreds of parodies- this is essentially free advertising for Progressive and shows the power of an icon!

So what happened to Progressive Flo?

The Super Bowl is a superb showcase for commercials, and often companies save the best commercials for the half time show. I was therefore anticipating a great Progressive Flo commercial! Imagine my surprise when a suave cowboy type dude appeared, in a skinny jeans advert, and started espousing the money he had saved on Progressive! I was so shocked that I nearly dropped my bowl of chips and beer! I even thought about turning the TV off - but just as I reached for the clicker, there she was large as life - well not quite! There, on the suave dudes dashboard was a smiling Progressive Flo Bobble Head! WOW so cool, so cute - I have to have one!

It took me a while but I eventually found one - it wasn't available on the normal retail websites but there they were, all smiling at me from a nice eBay window! What a perfect way to immortalize my favorite icon from TV, with a wonderful Flo Bobble Head!

Why are Progressive Flo Bobble Heads only available on eBay?

Progressive are currently the most innovative advertisers in the world! They came out with an iconic figure that caught the imagination of the public and because of this it gives them a lot more leverage. So, what they do is to introduce a product that cannot be bought anywhere excpet for a few places on ebay. Immediately they create a treasure hunt and people begin to search for Progressive Bobble Head online. The Brand is therefore immediately visible and by creating such a rare item they've kept Progressive in the lime light - very clever advertising!

Did you get a Progressive Flo Bobble Head?

Went to M.A.T.S. this weekend in Louisville, Ky. Progressive has a spin the wheel game. When the wheel stops you win what you landed on, things like a notebook, yard stick, pen, and then there was "Bobblehead flo". I waited in line and spun the wheel multiple time throughout the day and never won her. I'm bummed and especially cause they are popping up on ebay for 80-90$ . $$ hungry jerks....... I will get her, but on my terms!!!

You're not quite accurate on your theory of how they are "sold". In fact they are not sold. Progressive sends out about 5 a month to policy owners and they give their marketing reps a very limited quantity to give to interdependent agencies as an incentive. Progressive has never sold one to my knowledge and the ones available are from either an agency, an individual who got one for free, or a shady Progressive employee.

Just thought I would clear this up. My legitimate Flo bobblehead is sitting on my desk, a gift from my marketing rep.

I think I know why progresive advertisers call her flo.....Because she has a continous mensuruation cycle.

I'd get one but who in their right mind would pay $100. They can keep them.
