Progressive alarm clocks were invented to solve the problem of a sleeper being jolted disturbingly out of their slumber by a jarring alarm. Studies show that the level of sleep from which a person is awakened affects mood and energy levels.
Progressive alarm clocks wake sleepers with simulated sunlight that gradually gets brighter the closer to the time that the alarm was set. The light starts emitting approximately thirty minutes before the alarm is set. Some progression alarm clocks emit a soothing sound when the alarm is set to go off, such as sounds from nature. Some progressive alarm clocks also include aromatherapy so that a pleasant scent is emitted as the sleeper awakens.

- I think they are a great idea. I hate that screeching alarm sound in the mornings. And when being set to the radio, you never know what's going to wake you up in the morning. Progressive alarm clocks are a very gentle, relaxed way to wake up in the morning.
