Astral Projection for Beginners
You can experience it either in a waking state or whilst you are asleep, using techniques such lucid dreaming or even meditation.
You will need to choose a time when you are unlikely to be interrupted. Switch your cell phone to silent mode as well.
Choose a place where you feel comfortable. This can be indoors or outside. If you choose an outside location, make sure that you will be safe during your astral travel.
Either lie down or sit down. You can sit cross legged or with your legs stretched out in front of you. Let your arms rest by your side or in your lap. The exact position you choose isn't too important. But you should feel comfortable in it.
Take a few deep breaths - breath in slowly and exhale slowly.
Allow yourself to close your eyes and start to feel "centered" or grounded. You can do this by focusing on your connection with the ground you are sitting or laying on. Don't concentrate too hard on this - just let the feeling gradually envelop you.
This may seem kind of weird to start with. Don't worry - that's normal!
You may find it easier if you listen to specially recorded tracks to help take you to the correct state for astral projection. These will take your mind to the correct brainwave frequency quickly and easily, with next to no effort on your part.
Some people find that meditation helps to achieve the same state of mind. It's worth experimenting to see which works best for you.
Once you've reached this calm, centered state it's time to focus on where you want to travel to.
For your first few astral projections, it's best to choose a route you've traveled before. It's easier and gives you one less thing to concentrate on!
You may find it best to start with a short journey - say to the end of your garden or to the parking lot outside your apartment.
See yourself traveling on the route to your destination, noticing things on the way so that you remind yourself that you're actually en-route.
When you're ready, see yourself returning to your own body. Take your time about this and then, when you are sure you are ready, bring your focus back to the world around you.
Astral Projection Methods
Brainwave and binaural beats method
This method is probably one of the easiest methods to use.
You will need a pre-recorded astral projection track. This will take your brain to the correct frequency for astral projection and all you need to do is find a quiet space, put on your headphones and play the track. You can get an astral projection brainwave track here.
Lucid dreaming
Whilst this isn't strictly astral projection, lucid dreaming is where you experience your dreams as though you were awake. So you can use lucid dreaming to leave your body in the same way as you would during astral projection or for a whole host of other things.
If you haven't experimented with lucid dreaming before, then check out this comprehensive lucid dreaming course.
Learn astral projection from a book
Don't worry - this isn't like the books you read when you were at school!
Astral projection books will take you through all the techniques at your own pace. They can be used with the other astral projection methods mentioned here and are a good way to "fill in the gaps" that some of the other techniques leave.
One of the best books on astral projection is here. You can download it instantly and read it at leisure.
What Do You Want From Astral Projection?
Astral Projection Guide
Don't eat too much on the day you plan to travel. Keep your food light and avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol.
Wear comfortable clothing. Nothing too heavy - loose fitting clothing is best.
Clear your space and make it comfortable and inviting. Remove or switch off all likely disturbances - cell phones, television, etc. If you have noisy neighbors or family then you may need to choose another location entirely.
Play yourself a brain entrainment MP3 to get yourself into the correct state quickly and reliably.
Sit or lie down and focus on projecting astrally. You may need a few attempts but each one is easier than the previous. The more you experience astral travel, the longer your astral projections will become.
This is a good set of specially recorded astral projection brain entrainment MP3s.
