Project Marrakech

Ranked #218,693 in Business & Work, #1,531,244 overall

What the hell is going on?!

Rather than create a website for this Project we figured we'd create a Squidoo lens instead. Simple, easy, effective.

Project Marrakech is designed to do two things:

1) Provide a platform for young fashion labels to establish themselves online

and..

2) Allow us to create new and original fashion products ourselves. The kind that do things differently, that listen to our customers, work the long-tail, crowdsource and all that interesting stuff.

Basically its our way of trying to drag the fashion industry out of the dark ages, or at least prove that there is a light in the tunnel somewhere.

Phase 1 - Swami Safari

Launched in December 2006 here

Swami Safari is an online-only t-shirt label producing one new t-shirt each and every month.

We were inspired by narrative-driven products, mythology, ancient history and art. We went with the delightful Australian artist James Hancock for our first 12-month series.

Swami is about:

1. One t-shirt designed & produced each month, every month. Accessories designed & produced each quarter.
2. A fusion of fashion, story-telling & art
3. Charity (we sponsor a child in India & $1 from each sale provides additional support).
4. Transparency (our FAQ lists a lot of information about the cost and creation of our products)
5. Mythology & Spirituality
6. Doing things differently

Phase 2 - Some Street Somewhere

A database of fashion retail in Australia.
A mash up with Google Maps
A map of fashion labels all around Australia
Built through direct community support and assistance.

Coming Soon.

Phase 3 - Vanity Academy

Launching in the first half of 2007.

Phase 4 - Edo

Coming around a little bit later
