Firstly consider your budget when you decide to buy a projector. Then you have another question in your mind - which projector to choose? LCD or DLP?

Now LCD projectors use liquid crystal glass displays and color panels to project an image onto a screen. These devices have good color saturation. They are often used for displaying PC images. They typically use less energy than the other projectors. Whereas, DLP are the latest version of Digital Projectors based on Digital Light Processing technology developed by Texas Instruments in 1987. This process involves the manipulation of light through thousands of tiny mirrors. A digital projector tends to be more popular with home cinema and movies.

A digital projector has two variants - LCD and DLP. LCD projectors are the type of projectors used with an LCD or a liquid crystal display with independent transparent panels for each constituent primary color which are red, blue and green. The signal received by the PC placed near the projector is what the image transmission depends on. The projector redirects the images through these LCD panels on to the screen. The LCD projectors look pretty similar to older slide projectors. They are simple in construction and are therefore, cheaper in comparison to their successors i.e. DLP projectors. The LCD can be thought of as slides placed at the focal length of the lens making it complete. Clarity of picture in LCD projectors depends on the number of pixels it is set for.

DLP projectors bring in a different scope in the technology of projectors. Each mirror of the projector is considered a pixel. The image quality in this new technology is much higher than any older version of projectors and the views see the mist high definition images on the screen.

Both of these projectors have their own quality and features and they differ in the way and the purpose for which they are used. So your sole choice would depend on your use of the projector. If you need a finer projector then you ought to go for a DLP. If it is for regular use and would not require fineness or sharpness to that degree then a LCD projector is a better option for you. A LCD projector is also cheaper.

Resolution is a very important factor to look for in a projector. It is actually the number of pixels projected onto the screen. The best choice is to purchase a projector that matches the number of screen pixels on the laptop computer or the PC that will be driving the projector. The higher the luminosity of a projector the brighter and more visible the image on the screen. So luminosity is another important point to be considered in making your choice. The room that you will put the projector in is a key factor. The lighting of the room is equally important. Consider all relevant points before making such an expensive decision. Also the weight and dimensions of the projector should be thought of.
