Of course, the key is to get shopping early, but things don't always work out the way you planned!

Tips for finding the prom gown of your dreams:-

1. Decide what colours suit you best - read up on the Color Me Beautiful website if you need to.

2. Ditto - for finding out what styles suit you. Do you have a waist that you need to emphasise, or do you need a style that will create more shape than you actually have?

3. Armed with these, book yourself a day of shopping - and try on as many dresses and gowns as fit the above criteria. If you're not sure, try it on! Sometimes it can be surprising what will look "drop dead gorgeous" on you!

Finally, don't forget to plan everything else. It's easy to get so obsessed about the gown that you forget other essentials such as hairstyles, shoes and jewelery.
