    Thanks for the backlink ideas; I use some of them. However I just do not seem to find the time to work on my sites and do all this backlink work for my lenses. I may have to start a blog and announce all my new lenses to see if this helps me get more visitors.

    Yes, links within a site are valuable. However... keep in mind that links are more valuable when they are high on the page, like in your intro module, and when they are contained within a paragraph rather than in a list of links. As for the links in the right-side column of a page, they are lower down in the HTML of the page and I wonder how much SEO help they are, if any.

    Who has experienced the same dilemma as I did. I had created 2 lenses:

    Actually though we do know that Google no longer use meta keywords for ranking purposes. That has come from Matt Cutts himself and you can see the video somewhere of him discussing it a few years ago on Youtube...

    I did not see a way to add backlink from SQUIDUtils.com. I noticed that you can check an existing backlink to a lense there but not how to add a new one. Can you discuss the top 3 ways ?

    The SquidUtils directory doesn't include your lens unless you have the primary tags they're looking for.

    The instructions on how to pick the right tags:

    This is the only way I know of to be listed in the SquidUtils directory.

    I agree with you about using Facebook to use for backlinks. I also think it is pretty useless for getting visitors as well, although I am not certain of this. I wish there was some way one could tell.

    Hi, thanks for your effort, I should add blogs with 'do-follow' tags are still hard to find and the one you listed is not alive anymore. I worked with some free websites (Webs, Weebly and Yola) and they are not very useful for SEO because they are slow and limited with features and it takes forever to become recognized at search engines. Social bookmarking takes a lot of time too... But with persistence and some (free) tools (for backlinks checking) we can still build nice set of backlinks and some good traffic. All the best:)

    I know I should do more, but time is a factor. School starts again next week... Sometimes it comes down to building a new lens and spending my time promoting the ones I have. I try to find a balance but it's not always easy.

    Hi, there is a SEO plug-in for firefox that will tell you whether links are follow or no follow, the no follow links are highlighted in red.

    Televerus - some Squidoo links are "follow" and some aren't. I believe the plexo links are "no follow" but link list links are "follow"... plus any links in your text box would be "follow"... a good mix really. Often the plexos get spammed so I can understand why they are "no follow". Also - the RSS module links are "no follow" so I am transferring my blog posts to link list modules.

    Great lens. Thanks for sharing all these good resources. I think your way of creating 2 'blog' lens is a pretty good ideas. For anyone who are still online beginner I would say one is already very good enough either with blogger or wordpress. Anyhow well done.

    This is wonderful information! Thank you! one of my few regrets is that I did not study key words when I started in this business -- trying to learn now.
