Try to add at least one quality post a day. Trust me, no one will be interested how good was Your day or how much have You earned last week by clicking links. - Write things people will enjoy reading.
Post reviews, tips, compare few services or things. - Never blog for money! If You blog for people, money will come to You much faster.
- Social bookmarking is really important.
If You have quality content, just post Your story to Digg, StumbleUpon and De.licio.us and enjoy traffic. Remember to have good hosting!

- Make a Squidoo lens, add Your blog's RSS channel to it.
- Use BlogRush - one widget can give You even few hundreds visits a day.
- Become member of bloggers social networks like MyBlogLog.
- Try not to put advertisements at Your blog, at least at the beginning.
- Add Your blog url to Your forums' signatures, emails You send every day.
- Comment posts on similar blog leaving url (make quality comments, not spam!).
- Get RSS subscribers - make it easy to subscribe.
- Submit Your RSS channels to RSS directories.
- Make contests - for best commenter, for best blog review.
- Don't add affiliate links to Your posts!
If You really have to do this, let visitor choose from referral and nonreferral link. - Make it easy to bookmark Your blog post for visitors.
Add bookmarking widget. - Position yourself as a personality or expert.
- Make a list of Your best-posts-ever and put it into sidebar.
- Promote Your blog on Zimbio - submit Your blog and add Your posts to wikizines.
This can give You nice amount of traffic, recommended. - If You're on Wordpress, use Global Translator Plugin to have Your posts translated in many languages.
- Write "Top 10", "Top 25", "Top 100" posts.

- Optimize Your blog for Search Engines.
This point is extremely important, because can bring You thousands very targeted visitors every day.
Remember to make URLs nice. - If Your blog doesn't do it, ping blog services every time You add post. PingOMatic may be worth looking at.
- Build links to Your blog - try links and blogs directories etc. In fact, place Your blog link everywhere You can, just don't spam and will be OK :)
You should try ResellerOne - in demo version, You can submit a site to 150 directories, it really speeds up the work. - Make posts like "10 easy ways to...", "10 easy tips to..."
- Use social sites like MySpace. Find "targeted" friends and kindly inform them what happens on Your blog. Once again - do not spam.

- Add social bookmarking button, for example AddThis.
- Make comments on other blogs that are similar to Your blog. But remember - write quality, nice, informative comments, no spam!
- Create a group on Yahoo Groups in the niche your site sits.

- Help people solving problems on Mailing Groups or Yahoo Answers
- Buy domain, buy hosting.
In case of huge traffic wave, avoid $5 a year hosts. - Try not to make posts about temporary things.
Blog about things that will be still actual after a year o r two. - Writer articles about Your blog's topic and submit them to articles directories like eZineArticles
- Try to give something for free.
- Be topical! If You write about Linux, write about Linux, not about weather or flowers and so on.
- Do interviews with possibly well-known people, with a bit of luck, it may be really nice traffic generator.
- Post on weekends, because there are fewer new posts.
- Always check if links in Your post work!
- Install Google Analytics. You have to know witch traffic tactic works best.
- Break the news, then use social bookmarking.
- Create a sitemap for Search Engine Bots, if You use Wordpress on Your own hosting, there are plugins that will make it automatically.
- Never copy content from other blogs!
- When adding images, try to add title tag, so Google Images Bot will be know what is in the picture.
- Make an ebook connected with Your blog's topic and leave URL to Your blog in it. Then, submit it to ebook directories.
- If You can, create free web-based software.
If not, You can pay for creating it.
If You have good idea, You can expect lots of traffic. - Make it easy to subscribe to Your RSS feed. Use FeedBurner.
- Upload videos to Youtube leaving Your blog URL in description. If Your video become popular, ... oh, You know what will happen :)
- Post free advertisements about Your site in many classified ads sites. You will find list below.
- Ask people for opinion about Your blog. Forums are really good place for this.

Take a look at StumbleXchange or StumbleUdon. - Be patient. Results will come after some time.
