If you've opened a dental practice, you understand that it isn't easy to get it up and going. In the beginning, your practice will be unknown to people, but that will change with the right marketing. In fact, the most important thing to get your dental practice going is marketing. Just like any other business, you should advertise in order to get the word out about your new business. How exactly do you do it? Below are some excellent tips on advertising to help you get started:

Newspaper advertising - Don't think that people don't read the paper anymore. An ad in the paper is a great means of advertising. If you can afford it, put in a larger ad and include a picture.

Radio advertising - The radio is a very successful way for dental practices to advertise. The most important thing to consider when you run a radio ad is to refer your listeners to a website. A lot of radio listeners are driving while they listen, so they can't write down a phone number, but a catchy website address is going to stick in their head.

Set up a website - As was mentioned above, one of the most important forms of marketing for your dental practice is creating a website. A website about your dental practice allows potential patients a way to learn more about you, your staff, the dental procedures you offer, and you can even set it up to allow them to book appointments online.

Direct mail advertising - This is a good way to advertise if you are just beginning your practice, or you simply want to let your current patients know about new things happening at your office. Be creative. Send postcards, flyers, etc. You can add a picture of yourself, your staff, your building, etc. Maybe you would even want to include a coupon.

Advertise in the yellow pages - You are probably thinking that putting an ad in the phone book would be a waste of money now that everyone uses the internet. You might be surprised to learn that many older patients still use the phone book as their main resource for locating services in their community.

The point is, you need to advertise your dental practice just like any other successful business does. Whether you are a new dentist just starting, looking for a way to get patients, or if you have been in business for years, marketing is the key.
