My Success with Learning How to Promote Music Online.... SUCKED in the Beginning!

I paid for too much books and manuals on how to promote music online, couldn't stand my job, hated my boss, tried one thing, tried another, quit for little bit, then started doing it again, nothing was really working as planned.

This probably had a lot to do with me not having a plan at all because I wasn't sure where to start in terms of Internet music promotion!

This went on for 20 years, I'm 21 now! In a nutshell, I ended up finding an abundance of information I had no clue about prior to finding it.

After a while everything started to make sense, I stopped buying books and manuals and I was able to actually make a plan because I knew what to do. These are just a couple things I've learned.

A Few Brief Tips on How to Promote Music Online

When you promote music online there are certain procedures to follow in order to make your life a lot easier.

1. Social networking sites - MySpace, YouTube, Imeem, Facebook, etc.

You want to get as much of these as possible because it obviously boosts your exposure, however, you can also link all of these pages together and what this does is increase your page rank in the search engines when people search for your specific genre.

This will cause you to get referral traffic and search engine traffic.

2. Speaking of referral traffic, every time you've ever ignored a MySpace fan message or Facebook fan message, you've probably lost out on yearly recurring sales.

When the fan send you a message explaining how they like your music, that's your perfect chance to ask them if they'll be willing to do Internet music promotion for you if you pay them a percentage of revenue from the sales they generate.

It's as easy as making a separate banner for them, a separate music store, even a separate playlist so you can track every sale they make for you. This gives them a job and makes you more money with less work.

3. Use Myxer.com to sell your ring tones on as many webpages as you choose. Use Soundstation.com to sell albums on any webpage you choose.

You can use this for as many social networking pages as you want.

To even take it a step further sign up for CD baby.com because they will distribute your music to iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, etc.
