Puppy Crate Training - Crate Size Matters
What size should my crate be for puppy crate training?
When you are crate training your puppy, your puppy must be comfortable with the training, otherwise it will rebel against it, and you will get no where.
Rule of thumb, your dog must be able to stand up properly, without crouching, and be able to turn around. However, it should not be any bigger than that. Why? Because the whole point is to train your puppy to not go to the bathroom in the house, and if it has to much room, it will go if it has too.
The thing about dogs is, they will not go to the bathroom in the same area where their food and water is. Another thing they tend not to do, is go to the bathroom where they spend the most time, which will be in the crate. But what about the rest of the house? Well when it is not in the crate where is it? That is right, it is with you, in your house.
Puppy Crate Training - There Is a Time Limit
When should I put my puppy in the crate?

When you start you puppy crate training, you have to learn when and when not to put your puppy in its crate.
- You should never put your puppy in its crate when it has been bad, this will only teach it that this is the place it goes when it has done something wrong. You do not want your puppy to think this, because, when you are putting it in its crate for the right reason, it will think it has been bad.
- Only put your puppy in the crate when you are going to be going out, and not bringing it with you. This will get it in the habit of going into the crate when you are leaving, and there will be less fuss, and hassle. Never keep your puppy in the crate longer than is absolutely necessary.

Puppy Crate Training - Crate Training Benefits
How puppy crate training helps.

How does puppy crate training help? Well, before you put your puppy in the crate, you take it out for a nice walk, let it do its business, and tire out a little. A standard walk should be around 30 minutes, sometimes longer depending on the breed of dog.
Once it has done its business, your put your puppy in the crate with some water (dogs should always have water). Now, the first thing you should do once you get home is take your puppy out for a walk, and let it relieve itself. This walk again should be about 30 minutes or longer depending on breed of dog.
What this does is it trains the dog to go to the bathroom before it goes into the crate, and then again once you come home. In a very short time, your dog will never make another accident in your home again.

This is a very good item to have, My Rottweiler puppy likes it and has plenty of room to grow. This was great for crate training, especially with the use of the dividers. Although the dividers can be a little tough to move sometimes, but with a little elbow grease its fine. It is very, very easy to put up, and the bottom tray slides out for cleaning. I am very pleased with this product.

What could happen if I didn't crate train my puppy?
There are many nasty things that could happen. Here are just a few.

As you can see from this picture that this is just one of the many very nasty things that can happen. I for one do not like coming home to find that it has been torn apart.
Another thing that can happen, that I know NONE of us what to happen, is finding those yellow puddles on our floors, or even some feces if he really couldn't hold it in.
Remember, these are only 2 of the things that could happen, and they aren't even the wost.
