Introduction to property in Turkey

 

Turkey's potential for growth, its proposed entry into the EU as well as huge investment into new roads and airports, developing resorts, hotels, golf courses and other tourist facilities, the property market iin Turkey is currently thriving.

Property in Turkey bought by foreigners has risen almost 200% within the last year, and the newly introduced mortgage facility which makes property more accessible to non-Turkish residents, has led experts to believe that a real property boom is imminent and anyone buying property now will have a sound investment on their hands.

The recent changes in Turkey's economy will certainly increase property prices in the near future, but currently Turkey remains one of the few Mediterranean destinations where you can still buy property at a very reasonable prices.

Turkey is also jumping on the golf bandwagon, with a total of twelve courses planned in Belek and Kadriye alone with further plans for the Dalaman area. Investment in golf property in Turkey will be big business in years to come following in the footsteps of Spain, as Turkey offers the perfect climate for golf players.

Turkey is not just a fantastic holiday location, Turkish people are accommodating, hospitable and friendly and with a mild climate and low cost of living,  it is an excellent place in which to buy a permanent home for anyone thinking of relocating to sunnier climes.

Investment Potential of Turkey

For many reasons, it is considered that now is a great time to start realising the investment potential of Turkey. With some of the cheapest prices on the Med, the property market in Turkey is taking off in a big way. On par with Spain 20 years ago, prices are already rising considerably and it is estimated that the property market will progress in a similar vein.

Investment property in Turkey is tempting to those looking for high returns, but due to the low cost of living, Turkey is also an superb location for holiday homes, relocation or for those looking to retire in the sun - especially as banks currently offer 18% interest on money held in Turkish accounts. There is a strong buy to let and holiday rentals market in many of the prime resorts, and there has been a 30% capital growth rate over the past two years. The advent of mortgages has also encouraged further growth as foreigners now find it easier to buy property in Turkey.

Signs are therefore, that the investment potential of Turkey is very good. With plans for new marinas, golf courses, 5 star hotels and luxury resorts along both the Mediterreanean and Aegean coastlines, the future of Turkey looks very promising.
