Bodrum is a 5,000 year old city where the fun never stops. They say the sun shines differently in Bodrum, the nights seem longer and the drinks are just that much more enjoyable.
Bodrum and the Aegean Coast of Turkey.
I guess you really have to experience it to truly understand the attraction. Bodrum is situated on a beautiful peninsula and although it was once the home of the famous Greek historian Herodotus, today it is better known as a popular holiday resort. The crumbling remains of the Mausoleum (one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World) is in Bodrum.Property Turkey Bodrum
Villages of white painted houses trimmed with purple bougainvillea close to mile of sandy beaches and ideal for water sports. Of course Bodrum is now very popular but it still retains its charm. The most prominent feature of Bodrum is the castle of St. Peter. The castle's origins date back to the knights of St. John. During the time of the crusades the Castle of St. Peter, the Liberator, served as the sole place of refuge for all Christians on the West Coast of Asia. For more than a century the castle was a stronghold in the Knights community. The castle has, in more recent times, had several uses including being a military base, a prison and a public bath.
Belly Dance
The Turkish belly dance is something to behold, originally a fertility ritual although today it is seen as the high point of any significant social event, dinner or party. The dancer can get extremely well paid for a good performance. There are of course different styles and rhythms and the true belly dance is a very emotional dance full of passion. The movements are said to imitate the movements of birth and the sex act.
In the winter on the Aegean coast if you are lucky you can watch camel fights. Unlike the Spanish bullfight this is a bloodless sport. In its essence it is a contest of strength with the winning camel holding down its opponent for the longest time.
Bodrum and the Aegean Coast of Turkey is an incredible place with its beautiful unspoilt coastline and fantastic climate, so little wonder it has become a favourite destination for holiday makers from the UK and today more and more people are actually relocating from the UK to live on the Aegean coast. Of course prices are low and Turkey represents great value for money and property in Turkey Bodrum is still relatively cheap so you can buy a property for a price that is hard to beat in other resorts around the more popular Mediterranean.
