Google Adsense is a free program run by Google that allows you to display Google adverts on your website and that pays you each time someone clicks on one of these ads. You can join the Google Adsense program for free and start earning money right away. Google Adsense is the one of these rare online programs that allows you to earn some money through your own website or blog without spending a single red cent.

The cherry on the pie, with Google Adsense is that, you can even use these ads on a site that isn't yours: nowadays, there is a bunch of websites that allow you to get a share of their Adsense earnings just by participating in their community, like posting articles, reviews, or bookmarking sites. These are called AdSense Revenue Sharing programs.

The best way to earn Adsense money is by blogging, of course: add a new post to your blog each day or every other day, one post each day, nothing really important, just your opinion on something or your thoughts of the day and you'll soon get followers and readers, your blog will be indexed by major search engines and readers will end up clicking on your ads whenever they didn't find the right information on your blog.

The Adsense codes are easy to add to your site and you can customize them in many ways. Just choose the language and the type of ad you want to display, copy and paste the code on your pages and you're done.

Now that you've sent your Adsense application you might wonder will you be approved for the program... Well, it's Google Adsense's sole discretion to approve any application. But let's say that if your site meets their requirements, chances are that you're going to be approved for the program. Here are a few requirements your site/blog/web pages definitely must meet:

• Your site can NOT include adult content or pornography and contents alike
• Your site can NOT promote weapons and other dangerous things
• Your site can NOT include illegal content (and this includes ALL kinds of illegal content, including plagiarized content)
• Your site/blog/page can NOT contain ads for beer, liquor or other alcoholic products neither tobacco products
• Your site can NOT promote hate or racist attitudes

In general, I'd say that for as long as you site is family oriented or includes general inoffensive content, you have more chances to be approved for the Adsense program. Pretty strict, uh? Well, through the ads displayed on your site, it's Google Adsense reputation that must be kept intact.

Indeed, you can have several different websites for just one Google Adsense account. Moreover, Google Adsense doesn't allow anyone to have multiple accounts. The more websites, blogs or web pages you have, the more money you will earn by displaying Google Adsense ads on them.

One of the greatest things with Google Adsense is that you don't have to notify them whenever you set up a new website, blog or page. However, I do recommend to always make sure that your new websites comply with Google Adsense Program Policies. And this implies to check Google Adsense TOS at least once a week - sometimes more.

The exact same rules listed above apply when you add a Google Adsense search box to your website, blog or page.

Placing Google Adsense blocks on your pages is supposed to bring you some profit, therefore, yes, you should definitely learn more about site optimization when you start playing with such adverts. Google Adsense ads on your site would be useless if nobody clicks on them, isn't it?

You have to keep in mind that visitors will more likely come often to your site if you provide them with some free marketing or niche resource (for example, if you build a site about wine, you are going to provide them with wine information only, you can even develop reader loyalty by giving away a short report about wines and invite them to subscribe to a newlsetter you'd send once or twice a month).

However, does that impact your Google Adsense income? Not sure. Therefore, you're going to optimize your Adsense blocks.

In order to optimize your Google Adsense ads, you're going to choose colors that match with the colors of your website: if your site background is blue, you're going to select the exact same blue background coçlor for your Adsense ads. If your titles are orange, then select orange for your Adsense block titles. If your links are purple, then, select the color purple for Adsense links. See the picture? The Adsense blocks must look like entire part of your site. Otherwise, your readers will think you just place them on the site in the expectation of clicks and they won't come back as, as a matter of fact, your readers come first to find accurate information and not a bunch of ads.

Personally, I'd recommend to use 336 x 280 ads (or 250 x 250 square ads) on your site because they are the most profitable in that they look like links that one sees on the Internet and people tend to trust such links and are accustomed to click on navigation links and not on adverts. Also, don't place Adsense ads at the bottom of your site, preferably place them on top of the pages. Your visitors will thus see them immediately.

I don't recommend the use of the 486 x 60 size as it looks like an ad or a banner and will be ignored by the visitors. After all, you don't want them to run away from your site, you wish to provide them with great information. Also, in order to make your ads look more natural, don't place them in a separate area of the page, embed the block inside your content in order to make it look like part of your content.

An easy way to do so is to make the block "float" to the right of your post/article with such a code:

So, you wish to learn how much you earned through Google Adsense. In order to access that piece of information, log into your Google Adsense account, and click on "today's earnings". On this page, you can choose to have an overview of different Google Adsense reports: Adsense for content, for search, etc.

To access your "Adsense for content" report simply choose the type of report you prefer: today's report (previous day) or report for the month. Click on the option you wish to display the report. The first column represents the date, the second column displays the number of page impressions that have been displayed on your pages; which isn't always the same number as the one of page views. The third dolumn shows you the number of clicks received on the ads. The fourth column relates to the page CTR (click through rate) and displays a percentage that represent the percentage of the time someone clicked an ad after viewing your page. The fifth column is the page eCPM (effective cost per 1,000 impressions) and is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of page impressions in thousands.

At the bottom of the report, you'll see the total earnings for the day or the month and the daily average earnings.

NB. This picture of such a report is NOT a real one neither the one of someone known, it dates back to 2004 and Adsense backoffice had since been quite improved; still, this picture can give you an overview of an actual report.

Google Adsense is a very easy way to earn some money with your online business as, before any other affiliate program or whatever, it can help you pay your hosting and domain fees, for example. Therefore, it's really important to observe Google Adsense rules, especially if you don't wish to have your account closed! Having your Google Adsense account closed means that you're always been banned from the program. And, believe, me, Google is really serious and strict when it comes to their program policy.

Here are the rules which can result in your Google Adsense account closed if you don't observe them. What you CANNOT do with Adsense:

• Because Google Adsense is NOT a get quick rich program so to not add Adsense blocks on your website only to make money. You have to work hard and seriously to earn money through Adsense.
• Read, re-read, learn Google Adsense's rules. Do it at your own rhythm, like reading one chapter per day. Be patient and even if it takes some time to integrate the program and earn money, if you really work, you will succeed.
• Do NOT click on your own ads. Never! It would result on your account to get closed, deleted, banned...
• Do NOT ask your family or friends to click on your ads.
• Do NOT put your website in traffic exchanges, PTC programs or the like.
• Do NOT sell or trade your high page rank links.
• AVOID multiple domains having the same content or the same content on separate pages, sub domains, etc.

If you observe those simple rules, you're on the right way to work with Google.

Google Adsense pays you when you reach the payout treashold; which is set to $100,00 (70,00 euro for those in the euro zone). Instead of many online programs that allow to earn money, Google Adsense provides their members with multiple payment options. Here are those options.

Adsense pays through electronic funds tranfer

When you reach the payout treshold, Google Adsense transfers your earnings directly to your bank account if you selected this payment option. It is the quickest and safest way to get paid by Google. If you wish to choose this payment solution, verify that your country is on Google's electronic funds transfer list. Then, make sure to have your bank account information on hand (account number, payment address, IBAN, etc.), then log into your Google Adsense account and click on "my account"; seach for "add new bank account" and fill the form. Click on "save changes" and that's it.

Google will make sure that the information you provided is correct and will send a few cents to your bank account; once the money reaches your account, verify this amount in your Google Adsense account. Click on "my account", then "payment details", then "verify this account"; enter the amount received and click "next". If you haven't entered the wrong amount, your bank account is now verified and approved. You'll be therefore able to receive your Google Adsense earnings directly in your bank account.

Ask Adsense to send you a check

Whenever your country isn't in Google Adsense's list of electronic transfer, you can ask Google to send you a check in your local currency. For this, log into you rGoogle Adsense account, search for your account information like above, but, instead of providing bank account information, just activate the "check-standard delivery", select your currency (if available) and click on "register". The delay to get your check is 2-4 weeks after the request.

How about a check send through secured express delivery?

This is almost the same process as the one of the payment by check apart that the check will be delivered by a transport service within 10 business days. In order to ask for such a delivery, log into your Google Adsense account, click on "my account", "modify my payment details", activate "Secured Express Delivery", select your currency (be sure that your currency is available) and then, click on "register". That's it.

Google Adsense allows you to display up to 2 search boxes on your web page, site or blog in order to help you earn some more money. Doing so is quite easy, log into your Google Adsense account, and follow the instructions, just like you did for the blocks. The beauty of Adsense search boxes is that whenever a visitors run a search through a box displayed on your site or blog, you will earn money.

The Google Adsense search box has an option to seek date included in your own site so that people don't have to click on all your navigation links to find the page they're looking for. And you can customize the Google search box: personally, I always add at least one search box on my sites (mostly on top of the side bar).

You can track the searches made from your website through the Advanced Report from the Reports tab in you Google Adsense account; this will allow you to add articles related to the search run on your site in order to satisfy your visitors.

In order to join the Google Adsense program, you don't have to have your own website. Althought some may argue that it's safer to have one, it isn't absolutely necessary to own a website to display Google Adsense. Indeed, you can display Google ads on blogs and the quickest and easiest way to be approved for the Adsense program is to get a blog at the Blogger.com blogging platform as it is Google's property.

But whenever you don't have your own site, you're not limited to use Blogger to earn money through the Adsense program. There are many other ways to do so; for example: Bloggerparty is one of the many revenue sharing plaftorm. Here are a few platforms that will allow you to add your own Google Adsense ID and will share their revenue with you:

• Hub Pages, which is an online publishing platform where you can write articles on subjects that you're expert at
• She Told Me, where you can post your links along with a short description
• Tip Drop, where you can post your best tips about a topic you're expert at
• Mint Articles, where you can post your info articles
• Pagewizz.fr, is a French platform that allows you to create single pages on the topic you best like and shares their Adsense, Amazon.fr, Allposters.com, Zazzle.fr revenues with their authors
• Wizzley.com, is Pagewizz's American sister site which provides you with the same benefits.

If you wish to earn money with Google Adsense, you have to study a thing called "search engine optimization". It's a wide domain and not everyone does agree with everyone. However, here are a few tips to help you optimize your websites.

First, you're going to choose the keywords with the most research but the less competiton in your niche. In order to do this, create a keyword list (make a search on Adwords keyword tool or Word Tracker, for example) and use the more frequently requested keywords in your articles and meta tags. Once you have added the keywords to your pages, you need to drive traffic to it.

The best way to attract readers to your site is to think like them, think that you are a visitor and build your page after this point of view. Then, visit other sites in the same niche and gather ideas on how to improve your own site and check and see how they generate their own income: whether they use affiliate programs like Amazon or else or use other programs than Google Adsense (chitika, etc.)

Another way to optimize your site is by tracking the clicks on your Adsense links: test two or three different Adsense blocks (yes, the master word is "testing") ; when you know which one is the most profitable block, include it on your entire website.

Adsense is the easiest way to earn money but that does not mean that you have to be passive: it is necessary to be creative AND active.

When it comes to Google Adsense and search engine optimization, "Silo Structure" and "LSI - Latent Semantic Indexing" are things you should learn. Indeed, both words are words that you're going to hear oftentime in Google Adsense and SEO forums.

Here is what "Silo Structure" and "LSI - Latent Semantic Indexing" mean:

"Silo Structure"

So, what is a silo structure? Long story short, it's a group of web pages which content strengthens your theme relevance. Silos are linked together in a linear way to reinforce the theme of your site(s). Simply said it is a site which categories are connected to the main page. Here's a basic example of what a silo structured site is. Let's take an example of a site related to "cars".

Here's how its structure is going to look like:

• buy used car
• car rental
• car dealers
• cars auctions
• cars accessories
• electric cars
• hybrid cars

Each of these categories will be a complete site for people looking for specific information about each of them. As a matter of fact, if I look for "hybrid cars", I won't run a search on "car rental". Therefore, it is crucial for you to provide your audience with a site that matches each keyword.

Naturally, you're free to provide information about only one category; for example let's say that you wish to focus on "used cars", your site will then look like this:

• Buy used car in Canada
• Buy used car in South America

You can even narrow the niche to the point that you only provide "buy used car in Minnesota" and then list all possibilities to buy cars in Minnesota, such as buy cars online, buy cars at flea market, etc. (not sure you could buy cars at flea markets, though).

"LSI - Latent Semantic Indexing"

Google driven creation, latent semantic indexing is meant to better gauge the content of your web page in relation to the entire site. Until recently, Google's ranking system was set up to scan sites for relevance and quality. In the process, new sites and those that uploaded too much content too quickly were knocked out.

Latent semantic indexing had been created to not penalize those sites that have unique, useful, updated and human content even if they popped up over night. Actually, latent semantic indexing was supposed to provide the searcher the best possible site that meet their needs based on relevant keywords and comprehensive coverage and not just incoming links.

Personally, I'd recommend to have perfectly structured and highly optimized silo pages if you wish to rank on Google these days. Above all, and for not being hit by the new Google policies, I strongly advise to use only unique, useful, updated and human written content.

Google Adsense allows you to write about any topic you best like, for as long as you observe their rules and don't write about topics that are forbidden. However, in order to make the Google Adsense program work for you, there are a few things that you should make to improve your profits.

First, make strict decision on the topic of your blog. If your subject is weight loss, write weight loss only related articles. Naturally, you can develop your blog or site add add several different weight loss categories (which are known as sub niches). Example: natural weight loss, popular diets, weight loss camps, weight loss recipes, etc. The more categories you're going to cover, the more chances you are to get readers, followers, and, therefore, earnings. If yourself are dieting, let your readers know how it's working for you and regularly post your loss of weight, your personal tips, your personal recipes, etc. This works very well. And not just with weight loss; it works with almost everything: post your personal craft pictures if your site relates to craft; post your personal cupcake recipes and photos if your site relates to cupcakes.

Make sure you frequently post as it's the best way to attract readers and become a faithful expert. Write only about subjects you know very well, are expert at or have a passion for; post your personal opinion, this encourages you readers to share their opinion with you; they'll thus will come back to check and see as to whether you replied.

Above all, have fun. If you enjoy what you do, your readers will feel it and, therefore, will come back, recommend your site to their friends; which will result in more traffic and, therefore, in more Google Adsense earnings.
