Foods Bad For Prostate
Enlarged Prostate Nutrition -Look At These Facts
1. Your prostate is governed by hormonal control.2.Testosterone is present in the prostate - nothing wrong with that but under the influence of hormones from some foods, it turns into dihydrotestosterone (DHT for short !) which causes the prostate to grow. That DHT also causes male baldness !
3. What you eat and drink is going to determine the level of hormones in your prostate.
4.Reduce the intake of red meat and dairy products because these can lead to high levels of testosterone which then converts into the nasty DHT. Research has shown that lots of meat and milk leads to prostate enlargement.
5. In Hong Kong cancer rates among the population shot up because of the consumption of western food such as hamburgers and fast food. This population had previously eaten lots of vegetables (eg, soya) ... see below.
BASIC MESSAGE :- LOTS OF VEGETABLES + LOW FAT DIET.
1st Of The Foods Good For Prostate - Soya
Why Is Soya So Good? What Soya Foods Can I Eat?
Soya has got lots of isoflavones which are basically plant chemicals (good guys!) These stop nasty cancerous cells from growing.Soy foods come in about as many forms as you could wish:-
1. Soy yogurt.
2. Soy ice cream
3. Soy nuts - roasted
4. Soy cheese (tofu and tempeh)
5. Soy beans
6. Soy burgers and meat replacers
7. Soy cookies
8. Soy frozen desserts
9. Soy crackers
10. Soy snacks
REMEMBER THE GOOD NEWS: DIETS WITH LOTS OF SOY LOWERS MEN'S RISK OF CANCER BY 30% !

Soy Recipe
Just To Get Your Taste Buds Going!
Chocolate Soy Cookies1 cup soy flour
2 cups light brown sugar - I always reduce the sugar content !
2 cups butter, softened
4 large eggs
3 cups plain flour
1teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 tablespoons plain soymilk
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups roasted unsalted soynuts, crushed
1 (24-ounce) bag dark chocolate morsels (4 cups)
Oven needs to be at 350 degrees.
Use your blender to cream the butter and brown sugar. Now add the eggs (one at a time) and continue whizzing it around until it is pale and fluffy. In a separate bowl mix all the DRY ingredients and then add to the sugar and egg mixture. Now add the soyamilk and vanilla and then finally mix in the soynuts and chocolate pieces. Now arrange them in little dollops on the greased baking tray - about a tablespoon for each one.
I usually bake them for 10 minutes but this will very much depend on your oven and how crispy you want them

2nd Of The Foods Good For Prostate -Green Tea
Good News From Green Tea
Most studies so far show that the more green tea you drink, the less likely you are to get prostate cancer. Green tea contains polyphenols. These mobilize pathways that actually halt the growth of cancerous cells. They also play a key tole in stopping the growth of blood vessels which might eventually feed cancer cells. (Source : Cancer Research, December 2004). As if that wsan't enough, the polypenols promote a process called apoptosis which is basically killing off key cell survival proteins thus making sure that cancerous cells have not got a chance in hell of surviving! All these effects were noted in animal srudies and while we cannot be sure that they apply to humans, we can be pretty sure that a daily dose of green tea is a highly protective food.CAUTION :- GREEN TEA CONTAINS CAFFEINE SO MODERATION IS CALLED FOR !
Green Tea Recipe
Here Is A Dead Easy Sauce Or Dressing
Ginger Green Tea Sauce1/4 cup Green Tea already brewed.
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/2 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons fish sauce
2 small cloves garlic, chopped small
1 teaspoon ginger root (fresh and finely chopped)
1 chopped green onion - just the green part.
All you have to do is mix this lot, cover it well and then store it in the fridge. It can last up to a week and you can use it as a sauce on whatever you want or as a sald dressing.
3rd Top Food - Broccoli
You Probably Hated These As A Kid !
Cancer Care Ontario have done a study as indeed have loads of health authorities around the world and the news is really good. Eating broccoli ( and cauliflower and brussels sprouts too if you can stand the smell of them after cooking them in your home!!) could reduce your risk from cancer by about 45%! That is a big difference ! Remember we said that you need lots of fruit and vegetables not just because of them protecting you from cancer but because the ideal prostate diet is almost a vegetarian one.You will find broccoli in winter more likely as it flourishes in cooler temperatures. It is hard to get them in the summer so they have become a popular winter vegetable.
WELL KNOWN FOR ANTI-VIRAL AND ANTI-BACTERIAL PROPERTIES AS WELL AS ANTI-CANCER - see above.
HINTS ON PREPARING BROCCOLI:-
1. Don't BOIL them - steam them! if you boil them - THREE minutes is the maximum time. Otherwise they will lose all their vital minerals and vitamins.
2. Use them raw - great for hors- d'ouevre or snacks.
3. Stir fry them - they will still keep most of their goodness.
4. Microwave them - no problem !
