If you've been playing a Protection Warrior in World of Warcraft for a extended amount of time, you know how Blizzard enjoys making drastic changes for the last major patch of every expansions, so let's take a close look at Hour of Twilight 4.3.

WoW has came a long way since vanilla. Prot Warriors were at one time the kings of tanking, so much so that people wouldn't even do dungeons and raids without one. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that we have so many options nowadays, but it seems like Warrior tanking has really taken a back seat to every other class.

  • Vengeance for Protection Warriors has been redesigned slightly. It no longer ramps up slowly at the beginning of a fight. Instead, the first melee attack taken by the tank generates Vengeance equal to 33% of the damage taken by that attack. In addition, as it updates periodically during the fight, it's always set to at least 33% of the damage taken by the tank in the last 2 seconds. It still climbs from that point at the rate it did previously, still decays when damage is not taken, and still cannot exceed a maximum based on the health and Stamina of the tank.


    • This won't really affect your Protection Macros very much , but it will affect your damage quite a bit. Imagine the time it took to get 33% of your Vengeance damage to accumulate before 4.3. Now you get that right off the bat for every single encounter. Although I was hoping for a few more changes for us. I'm not surprised since Blizzard developers plan on overhauling the entire talent system in Mists of Pandaria.
