Prototype vs InFamous
The big question that most people will be asking is which is the best. Unfortunately though the fanboys will stick up for the one that is on their console or just spurn that one that isn't on their console. The reason of this article is not to start a fanboy war but to find out which is the best.
One of the things about exclusive titles is that the programmers don't have to worry about things that wouldn't work on another console but to concentrate on what works best on the console they are working on, whether that be a Playstation 3 or an XBox360. Having said that exlusive titles have a better chance of being a great game.
These two games are both very similar being open-world action games with the ability to run up and down buildings in a Spiderman type fashion.

InFamous

OK, first of all, BOTH are way overrated. They were each my most anticipated games of the Summer, and neither lived to my expectations. Brace yourself for a LONG review.
inFamous seems to rush into the story, with no build-up, and although the story-telling's great, the missions get repetitive quickly, and it's rather similar to any other open-world game. The lack of a typical stats/upgrade screen is inFamous' downfall, as it really lacks in presentation; the graphics, however, are beautiful. The story is relatively long, and in terms of longevity, you'll play through this game at least twice to get the most out of it. The powers are interesting, and the gameplay is enjoyable, yet as I said, after the inital excitement, this game gets repetitive, fast. This doesn't play like an open-world game like you'd expect, and the climbing and cover mechanics are implemented well. There isn't much variety in missions and sub-missions, but the Karmic system ensures multiple playthroughs, and is a nice twist on a linear storyline. The story is uniquely presented in a 3D comic-book style, and this is where the game's presentation is at its best. The powers are intersting upgraded through the aforementioned Karmic system, but there are relatively few upgrades, and powers, which is a shame given this game's potential.
Prototype is ugly. When you first start the game, after the initial cutscene, you'll instantly notice how aesthetically disgusting the game is. This was a HUGE shock to me, and was terrible for first impressions. By far the ugliest game I've ever played on PS3. The gameplay isn't much better. It's dull at first, and although the missions aren't as repetitive as inFamous, there's nothing innovative and exciting; just your typical open-world game, with typical, generic missions. The story isn't as interesting as it seems, and the enemies are lacking. They're boring. Initially some parts will be hard, but once you upgrade it gets a lot easier. And you will upgrade A LOT. There are many, many upgrades. What let me down was the lack of core powers - there are 4 basic power categories, each with a few powers in each, and that's it. However, it's these core powers that you'll upgrade a lot. And this is where Prototype stands out from inFamous. It has the typical menu that you'd expect of this genre. A basic, easy to use upgrade screen, and a statistic menu that tells you every numerical value you could want to know regarding the progress of you game. The Web of Intrigue, an interesting sub-task-like way whereby additional story-related information is told is an innovative way to expand the game, yet it isn't implemented as well as it could've been. There's a lot of fun to be had with Prototype, and although this is more of a 'true' open-world game - in the sense that the free-roaming, sub-missions, game-world and aspect that you can do WHATEVER you want are well-developed - there are a lot more faults.
In exactly the same way that I started, both games are overhyped. inFamous is the biggest victim. Being an exclusive with generally high scores, combined with the fact that this is said to be a game that stand out a lot, make this game seem much, much better then it is. Prototype, on the other hand, is nowhere near as good, but at least it didn't receive the hype that inFamous did, so it's a much gentler let-down.
I personally would recommend inFamous over Prototype, awarding the former an 8/10 and the latter a 7/10 (at most!), as the unique and innovative ways that this game tries to appeal makes it stand out from your typical open-world game, and there truly are some aspects that no other game is capable of. Prototype, despite feeling more like a traditional open-world game, is lacking in every other aspect, and although it didn't receive the same level of hype as inFamous, it feels like a much bigger let-down and fails to deliver in the same field that inFamous does.
The only way to truly see how both games compare is the play them, as many people will have opinions that differ from my own, and each person will have different preferences meaning my analysis of the games will affect them in a different way, and although both games don't live up to their expectations, inFamous succeeds in a lot more fields than Prototype, delivers a lot more of what it promises, and will come a lot closer to expectations than Prototype ever will.
I'd recommend getting both if, like me, you were seriously looking forward to these games, just so that you receive that first hand experience that I did and don't miss out on anything, however, if you're ever in a position where you absolutely MUST choose ONE, I seriously suggest you stay with first-party exclusives, and get inFamous, which exceeds Prototype in almost every way.

inFAMOUS is better, I have played both. Infamous may not have as much blood and gore, but who cares when the storyline is way better. Also, in Infamous the city feels alive and really captures the atmosphere
