Race Point is one Cape Cod's most beautiful spots to watch a sunset. Even better than the main beach on Race Point is a long walk to the secluded Race Point Lighthouse, which is nearly 2 miles from the nearest road. This painting, featured on this mousepad, is an original oil painting of the lighthouse during the end of summer. Just beyond the lighthouse lies Cape Cod Bay, a dramatic end to any day, and one of the Cape's most perfect spots to catch a sunset.

The Atlantic House in Provincetown is a contender for the oldest gay bar in the United States and Frommer's calls it "the nation's premier gay bar".

Race Point Beach, Provincetown

The northernmost beach of Cape Cod

Right: Race Point Beach Provincetown Ocean Mousepad mousepad
Race Point Beach Provincetown Ocean Mousepad

One of the best beaches on Cape Cod is Race Point Beach, which is located as far north as you can travel on Cape Cod. To the north is the open Atlantic, with Cape Cod Bay and some dramatic sunsets to the west. Race Point Beach is one of the few spots on Cape Cod where you can witness a spectacular sunset, which draws hundreds of people every night.

Race Point is rather secluded, and that's the best part about it. It's 10 minutes from downtown Provincetown, and even further from the closest town, Truro. Race Point is set back from the main road, Route 6, and offers miles of hiking and bike trails which are paved. Race Point is also well known for its lighthouse, which like the beach, is very secluded. Provincetown Airport can also be found adjacent to Race Point Beach.
