You're Not in Kansas Anymore

There's no place else like Provincetown. From the day the Pilgrims first stepped ashore (here, not Plymouth), the history, art, and culture of this unique village has been rich and varied. Sheltered in the palm of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, surrounded by the dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the north Atlantic, and Cape Cod Bay, Provincetown attracts visitors from all over the world.

Something for everyone

A mecca for Portuguese fishermen, artists, writers, poets, musicians, beach lovers, boaters, straights, gays, lesbians, and transgenders, this is a truly diverse community. You can sit in front of town hall with a cone or a coffee, maybe chat with a local, and watch one of the greatest shows on earth. Listen to talented street musicians, shop dozens of unique stores (no chains here), and explore a multitude of art galleries or the Provincetown Art Association Museum. If you're adventurous, climb to the top of the Pilgrim Monument for spectacular views. Spend an afternoon lounging on the beach that surrounds the town on all sides. You might enjoy a sail around the bay. And a trip on a whale watch boat is an experience of a lifetime.

Nature, history, and mystery

You can rent a bike and explore the trails through dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore, or just take a dune tour in a comfortable van with a knowledgeable guide who can show you the famed dune shacks. On a trolley tour through town you will learn some fascinating tidbits about the history of the town and about some of the famous artists, poets, and writers who have called Provincetown home. Maybe you would enjoy a ride around town like royalty in a Pedi cab, or a taking a Ghost Tour to hear some fascinating tales.

Night time is the right time

When your day at the beach or exploring the town has left you tired and hungry, there are dozens of excellent restaurants with great dining, whether you're looking for lobster, sushi, or just a burger.

When the sun goes down, the party moves to the clubs and bars. Dance the night away, enjoy the flamboyant drag shows, great comedy acts, plays, or musicians who flock here in the summer. Friday evenings you can enjoy art openings at many of the galleries, and just strolling down the street can be a delight.

There's no place like Provincetown

Whatever your cup of tea, gay, straight or somewhere in between, there's something here for everyone. A visit to Provincetown is something you'll always remember, so bring the camera, and leave the car and your worries behind you. There's no place like Provincetown.
