I owned a PS 2 for about a year and it start to give me problem recently. After some research and I realize that most of the PS2 start to give problem after sometime.
I decided to create this space for the PS2 gang to share their PS2 problem.
Most Common Errors:-
1. PS2 lens - Disc Read Error
If you are playing your favorite games and realise that some scenes are skipping, that is the symptons that your PS2 lens is start giving you problem. And you PS2 lens needs to be replaced or repaired.
One way to find out is to load the same game into your friends PS2 console, if the skipping is not there or in the case of a full disc read error where your game simply will not load up, but loads just fine in another Playstation 2 console, then it is definitely an indication of your PS2 Lens not working properly at all.
To solve this problem, you can just get your lens replace at $35 to $60. Or you can send it for repair with the workmanship at $80.
2. PS2 Console not able to switch on...
Its a very common problem, i have fixed mine after some research.
First, identify the standby and eject button on the front with the blue and green lights.
Second, Unplug your power cable completely from the wall socket!
Third, Open the PS2 casing and locate the standyby switch. There is a small flat cable that fits into a connector there. It has slipped out of place and will be sitting free. Plug it back in to the back of the switch.
That simple!!

Hi, I recently installed part d from magic switch v4 on my ps2 slim scph-75001. I went a little rough on putting part d on the switch top-left of the lens and broke the switch off(the chip just snapped off). I am not an expert with soldering or electronic repairs. How do I put the switch back on properly? I don't care anymore about making it so it plays backups-which is why I got magic switch. I just want my system to work again. Any advice please? THANKS

I love the Sony Playstation and I wouldn't even trade it for the PS3. I don't know why but I think it's because i don't have the money to buy the PS3! lol! But since I have the PS2 already, and I have dozens of games, I would settle for it for a long, long time! one problem though....I CAN'T REPAIR MY OWN PS2! Good thing I come across this lens of yours! Thanks for sharing! Every time that I try to play, it goes straight to browser configuration screen. The system is only a bit over a year old. I have far too many games and accessories not to try to repair it.

My niece was running and tripped over the PS2 controller sending my console unto the ground. Now my PS2 starts up and goes straight to the Browser/System Configuration. I have cleaned the lens and occasionally it will play. Sometimes the disk will be loading then "POOF!" it doesn't read the disk then it returns back to the Browser/System Config. I even went and tried to move the white gear wheel to adjust the laser and got nothing to work, I spent hours going to each click and seeing if it works but to no avail. Any suggestion before I take it in to get it fix or maybe trash it.

HI MY PS2 HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR A WHILE. EVERYTIME I WANT TO PLAY, ITS PLUGGED INTO THE WALL, BUT THE RED OR GREEN LIGHT WONT COME ON. PLEASE HELP!!!

When ever I load my game into my ps2, it starts makeing loud screeching noises and doesn't play the game. All of my other games work on my system, can any one tell me how to get my game to work?

I got the swap magic and the flip top. I installed the flip top , put in the disk and all it does is restart what am i doing wrong? please help/
