Choosing to Serve or Not to Serve the King

Because the Psalms of King David are all about Sovereign Service to God, its practice, motivation, depth and breadth, it necessarily lays out right from the beginning the choices every soul in time and eternity is faced with.

As in human courts of human kings, NOT EVERYONE IS PERMITTED TO DIRECTLY SERVE THE PERSON OF THE KING.

Those who do so are highly respected and honored.

I am working on this page and will  have additional translations, commentary and other information soon!  Thanks for your  patience!

A Stark and Clear Choice

Whom will you serve?

So many are seeking the 'source' in the universe, a power, an ancient and deep power. Yet, in the modern world, for modern people, when discussing morals or standards, a common question is: who decides?

Gravity is one such power. We can agree to accept the reality of gravity and its demands, through FIAT, a total agreement, an existential one in our being, doing, thinking and living; or we can resist or rebel against it and suffer the consequences.

Whether you call it a 'force' or God, or anything else, a FIAT is required or you will not benefit from or maintain the access.

Psalm 1 lays out the fiat we must make, the understanding that there will be those who accept the way the universe actually operates, and those who do not. God is the great 'force' in the universe, the one who created it and decided how it works.

In Psalm 1, this yes or no DEFINES someone as wicked or as just.

Psalm 1- Douay Rheims Version

A very old translation

Beatus vir. The happiness of the just and the evil state of the wicked.

1 Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence.

2 But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.

4 Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.

5 Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

Pestilence: Mockers and Scoffers

Verse 1: Other translations of the Psalms do not use the word 'pestilence' but instead highlight meanings within the original words in a different way, which is: to be 'mockers' or 'scoffers.'

Psalm 1 doesn't require that we know everything about God to 'bear fruit in its season,' but it does require that we not mock or scoff.

This is SO significant that it is mentioned right at the very beginning of the 'breath of God'- a foundational aspect of achieving oneness with Him.
