Since King David wrote them, the Psalms have been prayed daily by Jews and also by the Catholic Church.

The greatest mystics recommend praying them daily, and other forms of prayer like the rosary have their origin in the Psalter. 

 Illuminated manuscripts are highly prized, very old, and generally belonged to royalty or the wealthy elite, since they were hand made, hand written and painted.
