So what is Pseudotube?
Video is huge on the Internet right now. Sites such as YouTube get millions of hits every day. People are looking for an alternative to the mundane pap that passes for entertainment on mainstream TV. Online video sites give them something new and fresh.
Pseudotube gives anyone - and that means YOU - the chance to set up their own video-based website and get a slice of this online action. No technical skills are required - all the behind the-scenes programming has been done for you. Essentially, all you have to do is choose videos for your site from YouTube and other video-sharing sites, and promote your site to get visitors.
Apart from the fact that the technical aspects of designing and hosting your site are done for you, another advantage of partnering with Pseudotube is that you become part of a large and growing network of related sites (listed further down the page). All these sites are inter-linked, so traffic is guaranteed from day one (but you do still need to work to increase your traffic, of course).

How do you make money from Pseudotube?
Good question! In fact, there is a range of ways your Pseudotube site can make you money.
First of all, you can add Google AdSense advertising. For those who don't know, these are the small 'ads by Google' you'll see on many websites. The ads are served by Google themselves, and are chosen to be relevant to the topic of the site. Every time someone clicks on an ad, a share of the advertiser's fee is paid to you as the site owner.
In addition, by using videos from a site called Revver, you can get paid a fee whenever someone watches one of the videos in question. It's only a cent or two at a time, but it all adds up.
You can also upload ads to your site for almost anything, from books at Amazon to ClickBank digital products, and receive an affiliate fee any time someone makes a purchase. This is done through the Pseudotube Store Front feature.
And finally, you can make money any time someone applies to set up their own Business or Enterprise Pseudotube site via the link on your site (the different site options are explained below). Pseudotube do this because they are trying to expand their network of sites as fast as possible.

So what does it cost?
Pseudotube offer three different membership options. With the Business and Enterprise options, you buy and own the domain of your choice. Your site is then hosted, backed-up and updated for free, and you get free technical support any time you need it.
There is also a FREE option, which lets you set up a site almost instantly at no cost. You don't need to arrange a domain for a free site. You get a subdomain of the main Pseudotube site with a URL such as www.yoursitename.pseudotube.com.
Depending on which option you choose, your own ads will be shown anywhere from 50% to 100% of the time...
FREE: Your ads/links are shown 50% of the time.
Cost: Zilch!
BUSINESS: Your ads/links are shown 80% of the time.
Cost: $99 a year.
ENTERPRISE: Your ads/links are shown 100% of the time.
Cost: $499 a year.
Personally I went for the Business Package, as I felt it was worth paying the 99 bucks to get my ads shown to 80% of all my visitors rather than just 50% with the free package. I didn't, however, feel inclined to pay another $400 for the other 20%. But, obviously, you may see this differently.

Link exchange with the Pseudotube network
Even if you don't want your own Pseudotube site, you can still take advantage of the opportunity to exchange links with any - or ALL - of the sites in the Pseudotube network. Just go to the Links page on my Pseudotube site and click on Single Link Swap or Mass Link Swap, then follow the on-screen instructions. As these aren't perhaps as clear as they might be, I've added some more info below...
To start with, under Step 1 you should see a box containing the link you need to put on your own site to make the exchange work. You MUST add this link to your site's HTML before going any further. Then proceed to Step 2...
You will now be asked to complete four boxes. From top to bottom, these are as follows:
Your URL - This is your own domain URL, e.g. www.mywebsite.com or www.blogspot.myblog.com.
Your Link Text - This is the text you want to appear on the relevant Pseudotube website/s with a link back to your site. You can put anything you like here, e.g. World's Best Motoring Blog. Use text only in this box, no HTML.
One of Your Return Links Back to Us - This is the URL of a page of your site on which your link to the Pseudotube site/s can be found, e.g. www.mywebsite.com/links.htm.
Anti-Spam Code - Just copy the characters you see into the box, and click on Add Your Site.
Note that your link will NOT appear on a Pseudotube site until someone has clicked on the corresponding link on your own site. This is to prevent fraud. You can, however, click on the link yourself to activate the exchange.

- Nick,
I'm not a fan of videos myself, for personal reasons, rather than marketing related, but I really found your Lens interesting and informative.
Good job, indeed!

- Thanks for the feedback. As you'll see, I've tried doing this. I'm still not 100% sure it's an improvement, but I'll leave it as it is for now and see what other feedback I get.
Many thanks again for taking the trouble to comment!

- Interesting biz opp. I like your lens, too. Only exception is too many links to other psuedo sites. They push your video examples too far down on the lens. Move the videos up and the links down and you have a greater lens.

- Thanks, Tina. Glad you're having fun with Pseudotube - you've come up with a great idea for a site! I've added your PT site to the list on this Lens, and arranged a link swap with you.
Good luck!
