Psoriasis Symptom Treatment

For many years researchers have been trying to come to a conclusion concerning the cause of Psoriasis. Many have put forth some interesting theories based on the studies they have done that bring them to believe that certain genetic factors in combination with environmental factors are the cause for someone who has never had any previous problems before to suddenly get psoriasis.

Some people seem to be genetically predisposed to develop psoriasis. The excessive multiplication of cells in the outer layer of skin causes the irregular patterns of psoriasis. Researchers feel that this activity is the result of an immune system that is functioning improperly. The immune system in some way speeds the development of new skin cells before the old ones can be sloughed away

Within our bodies our immune system works by creating specialized cells, called T-cells to help fight off any foreign bodies that may be harmful to you. When a foreign invader enters you body an alarm goes send out T-cells to help fight off and destroy the new intruders. This series of events that most people take for granted to help fight off pathogens in your environment can start a chain reaction that may eventually result in psoriasis.

T-cells quickly release proteins called cytosines. The cytosines are used as messengers which ask the body for an increased production of skin cells. The body responds by sending out more T-cells which are layered onto the skin. In psoriasis, these clinging skin cells cause the raised patches of reddened skin or blisters on the body.

From what researchers have seen in their studies, this cycle of cytosine and T-cell production is repeated over and over. The patches of Psoriasis grow till another factor such as the introduction of drugs or injection is used to help control the growth of those cells. At the moment though researchers are unsure what starts this cycle.

Some feel that environmental factors such as sunlight or cold weather might be responsible for altering the immune system. Others feel that mental stress, pollution, a virus, or bacteria might be the culprit that sends the immune system into this frenzy of cell production.

Until a breakthrough is made to understanding what these trigger's are doctors will have to continue to treat only the symptoms.psoriasissymptomtreatment
