Making the Most of Your PSP

When people refer to the term PSP hacks, it's all about customizing, modifying and altering the PSP in a way that optimizes it's performance. The easiest way to learn a certain PSP hack is to watch an instructional video.

There are two main types of PSP hacks; firmware or software hacks, and hardware hacks. Firmware is the software pre-programmed into the PSP which make everything run the way it does, and there are custom firmwares available which enable custom programs, often referred to as homebrew applications, to be run. Hardware hacks involve modifying the circuitry or appearance of the PSP. Examples include installing a mod chip or adding custom lights.

On this page you will find videos and resources all about PSP hacks. Some PSP hacks videos will introduce you to certain elements while others will be more in-depth.

Enjoy!

An Introduction to Homebrew

Homebrew PSP Video

Now you've seen what can be done to the hardware of the PSP, I'll introduce you to the firmware (software) of the PSP. This video teaches you about the concept of homebrew and custom firmware. This video is a bit out dated and I suggest that you look on forums such as PSP Forum and Max Console PSP Forum. I have found this to be the easiest way to farmilliarise yourself with everything you need to know about PSP firmware hacks. Trust me, it's not as complicated as it looks."

PSPTube - Watch Youtube Videos on Your PSP!

PSP Hacks Video - PSPTube Installation

PSPTube is a homebrew application for the PSP which makes it possible to watch YouTube videos on your PSP. To be able to install the application on your PSP, you will need a homebrew enabled PSP (see above video). PSPTube and many other useful applications can be downloaded from http://www.psp-hacks.com.

PSPTube Installation guide

IMPORTANT: YOU CANNOT DO THIS ON OFFICIAL SONY FIRMWARE OTHER THEN 1.00 OR 1.50!!! YOU MUST BE AT 1.00, 1.50, OR A CUSTOM FIRMWARE TO DO THIS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW IF YOU'RE FIRMWARE IS CUSTOM OR NOT, IT ISN'T CUSTOM FIRMWARE. YOU'D KNOW IF IT WAS. ALSO, I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO GET CUSTOM FIRMWARE OR 1.00 OR 1.50 FROM ANY FIRMWARE. THIS VIDEO IS NOT ABOUT CUSTOM FIRMWARE, IT'S ABOUT PSPTUBE. Well, PSPTube is a great homebrew app just recently released. However, it's a bit tricky to put on your PSP (not too hard once you figure it out but it gave me some trouble too so don't feel bad) So here's the guide and here's where you can download PSPtube http://dl.qj.net/dl.php?fid=14262 and here's where you go to make the Youtube developer account http://youtube.com/my_profile_dev Enjoy

Pandora's Battery

PSP Hacks Video - Pandora's Battery

Up until recent months, if your PSP's firmware became corrupt while downgrading to custom firmware, your only option to fix your PSP 'brick' was to install a new motherboard or mod chip. Now, however you can create and use what is known as a 'Pandora's Battery'. The Pandora's Battery can be used to 'unbrick' and also downgrade your PSP. If you need to know more about the Pandora's Battery, Forums such as those I have mentioned above are a good place to look.
