Modding (Modifying) Your PSP
The PSP can be a bit dull. There might come a time when you would rather play a console that looks a bit more inviting. Yes the PSP is slick and well designed, but for the elite gamer, or for those who just want to express themselves, modding is one way to make your PSP stand out. Most people are afraid of taking apart their PSP, and I don't blame them, but in fact it's not that hard to install a new faceplate, or a set of flashy buttons, especially if you know what you're doing. I'm going to help you with just that, I will be providing tips and resources to get you on your way to presenting your PSP the way you want to!
Where to Start
There are two main ways that you can modify the appearance of your PSP. The easiest is to buy a 'skin' for your PSP. It's as simple as peeling the skin off of it's backing and sticking it onto your PSP. There are some pretty awesome skins available, and anyone is capable of applying them onto a PSP. If you'd rather not stick an adhesive skin to your PSP, you could opt for a silicone skin which simply wraps around your PSP. The disadvantage when it comes to silicone skins though, is that they are mostly limited to just a simple colour, whereas adhesive skins come in all manner of different designs. However, silicone skins offer a more protective layer around the PSP.
The second method is to purchase a custom faceplate for your PSP. If you are not confident about taking your PSP apart, you could hire a PSP modder to do it for you. Check for PSP modders on PSP forums such as Maxconsole PSP Forum. Some may even offer their service for free, but make sure you don't send your PSP to someone who won't send it back! In reality though, it's simple enough to do it yourself, and unless you know someone who can do it for you, there's no reason you can't do it yourself.
In the PSP hacks videos I'll be showing you below, you learn everything that you will need to modify the appearance of a PSP yourself.
