What Can Psychic Tests Tell You?

It can be difficult to identify and measure some types of psychic ability, especially using online psychic tests. But there is a way to do it - see the one type of psychic test that is better than the rest.

Most people want to know whether they are psychic or not. But what does "being psychic" mean? And how useful is it to know whether you are "psychic" or not? You need to be more specific. Are you clairvoyant? And if so, how much? Clairaudient? Telekinetic? We need more information.

Whether or not you have extra-sensory perception (ESP) is essentially the same as asking whether you are psychic or not. It is a fairly general term, and needs to be broken down into its component parts to be useful. I do like the term from the point of view that it tells you something about the mechanism of your psychic gift - you are perceiving something using a part of your being that does not involve the standard five senses.

Both of these questions provide insight into the nature of psychic abilities. Firstly, there are many different types, and the better psychic tests can help you decide which ones you have. Secondly, whether or not you have psychic ability is usually not a yes/no question - it is more gray than black and white. Like many other things in life, there is a range of proficiency for any given type of psychic ability (for instance clairaudience). Also, those abilities fade in and out, depending on how you feel, whether you're tired, stressed or happy, and so on. Thirdly, psychic abilities can be developed over time, either accidentally or intentionally (which is VERY important - few so-called gifted psychics were born that way; many have spent years developing their skills. The good news is that you can, too).

Now we're getting somewhere. Clairvoyance is a specific psychic skill that can be identified and measured (at least to a degree). Clairvoyance (which literally means "clear seeing") is often the only, or main psychic ability that people know about. But as you'll discover in a moment, there are many more. Clairvoyants are able to "see" things about the past, present and future. They usually use their inner or third eye, but may also use tools such as crystal balls, tarot decks or runes to tune into the subtle energy currents that surround us all.

Clairaudience is another specific psychic skill. It means "clear hearing", and describes the ability to receive hidden messages through the power of hearing. Some people with this gift say that it is like hearing a radio station that is almost, but not quite, tuned into a station. Others may hear one or more clear voices, and receive occasional or regular instructions. Clairaudient psychic tests can be difficult - how do you test this ability in real time over the internet, for example?

Clairsentience means "clear feeling". It describes the ability to understand others and receive otherwise "invisible" signals through feeling. Clairsentience has in the past been called psychometry (and those with clairsentient gifts psychometers). More recently such people have also been called empaths. These people take on and process the feelings of others. This can be a challenge to deal with until you understand that you have this gift, and that it is really a blessing when used with intention - especially for those working as healers with people, animals or nature.

How intuitive am I?
We all have some intuitive powers. While some may say that intuition is not a psychic power, I believe that the opposite is true. What defines a psychic gift? Certainly, the ability to receive useful information through the non-traditional senses is one of the hallmarks of psychic ability. Sounds like intuition to me! So the best psychic tests

Am I psychokinetic?
Psychokinesis is literally the ability to move things with your mind. For most people we're not talking about trucks or planes but small things like bending spoons (Uri Geller style). It can also include influencing things like dice, roulette wheels and poker machines - nice if you can do it! Again it is hard to test over the internet, but perhaps easier in real-time situations like psychological psychic tests. Am I a lucid dreamer?
Whether or not lucid dreaming is a psychic skill or not is open to debate - same sort of argument as for intuition (above). Even if it proves not to be, I believe that it is still a marker for psychic powers - lucid dreamers and those with psychic ability both share the characteristics of openness, self-awareness and creativity.

Am I telepathic?
Telepathy is one of the classic psychic powers, and like the others it can be developed with practice. That is one of the big fallacies of common perception - that you get what you are born with (in terms of psychic ability). What you really get though is the POTENTIAL to be psychic - I believe anyone can be if they are open to it, and diligently practice, enlarge and master each psychic skill.
