Who is a Psychic Child?

Children who display characteristics such as empathy, sixth sense, expanded awareness, or second sight may in fact be psychic. Sometimes these children speak of guardian angels, imaginary friends, or traveling to other dimensions. Most parents don't understand this phenomenon because they were shut down as children, so they often respond by attributing their child's experiences as just vivid imagination or creative play.

Indigo Children

The term "Indigo children" refers to a New Age belief that some children, especially those born after the late 1970s, represent a higher state of human evolution. The term itself is a reference to the belief that such children have an indigo colored aura. Beliefs concerning the exact nature of Indigo children vary, with some believing that they have paranormal abilities such as the ability to read minds, and others that they are distinguished from non-Indigo children merely by more conventional traits such as increased empathy and creativity.

Indigo children are highly sensitive with a clear sense of self-definition and a strong feeling that they need to make a significant difference in the world. They are strong-willed, independent thinkers who prefer to do their own thing rather than comply with authority figures. They are empathic and can easily detect or are in tune with the thoughts of others, and are naturally drawn to matters concerning mysteries, spirituality, the paranormal and the occult, while opposing unquestioned authority and contradictory to convention. They allegedly possess wisdom and level of awareness "beyond their years." They are also said to feel a strong sense of entitlement.

What is a Psychic?

A psychic (; from the Greek psychikos?"of the soul, mental") is a person who professes an ability to perceive information hidden from the normal senses through extrasensory perception, or is said by others to have such abilities. It is also used to describe theatrical performers who use techniques such as prestidigitation and cold reading to produce the appearance of such abilities. It can also denote an ability of the mind to influence the world physically and to the telekinetic powers professed by those such as Uri Geller.

Psychics appear regularly in fiction and science fiction, such as the The Dead Zone by Stephen King, or Jean Grey from the Marvel comic book universe. A large industry exists whereby psychics provide advice and counsel to clients. Some famous contemporary psychics include Miss Cleo,FTC Charges "Miss Cleo" Promoters with Deceptive Advertising, Billing and Collection Practices Sylvia Browne, Danielle Egnew, and John Edward.

Critics attribute psychic powers to intentional trickery or self-delusion.Nova, 15 April 1993 (Season 19, Episode 3), Psychic Debunking. In 1988 the U.S. National Academy of Sciences gave a report on the subject that concluded there is "no scientific justification from research conducted over a period of 130 years for the existence of parapsychological phenomena." In a 1990 survey of members of that organization, 4% of respondents agreed that extrasensory perception had been scientifically demonstrated, or that it happened sometimes. Asked about research in the field, 22% would discourage it, 63% would allow but not encourage it, and 10% would encourage it.

I definitely think that ADD and ADHD is more about too much openness and awareness without the right sorts of creative outlets than a "disorder". It's society's disorder, not the child's (or adult's).

Great pictures of your Indigo Child. :) 5*

This is a very important subject for two reasons.

First, it has highlighted the mistake (crime?) of labeling unusual children as mentally ill and drugging them. With these types of children being treated this way, it becomes even more clear what those that indulge in this practice are really trying to do.

Second, there is some VERY important data coming from these children. For some of these kids, the strain of being seen as so different tends to destroy their willingness to communicate freely, but while still quite young they will. Of course, if their environment is sufficiently nurturing their confidence in their own knowledge and purpose may increase.

Boriska in Russia is an unusual example of such a being. See these links:
