Psychic Kids: Season Two

I first met Chip Coffey while I was a musician and actress with The Atlanta Shakespeare Company; he was the artistic director of the lovely Kaleidescope Children's Theater, which operated in the same theater. I've watched Chip calm a frightened child by getting down on his level and talking to him as a person, not as a little boy. It's why kids like working with Chip, and why so many people feel drawn to him.

Chip began working as a full time psychic and medium in late 2001, and since that time has worked exclusively in this field, with thousands of readings and hundreds of personal, radio, and television appearances on his resume. Chip is best known for his many appearances on the A & E series, Paranormal State.. because of audience response to Chip's no-nonsense style, in 2008 A & E presented the first season of Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal, with Chip and Dr. Lisa Miller, which attracted a loyal following as well as controversy about showcasing gifted children. The debate has opened up a necessary discussion - how do we help children become comfortable with psychic gifts? From a discussion I had with Chip during an appearance last year, I know he hopes to continue his work with psychic children for some time to come.

Chris Fleming brings to Psychic Kids his own memories as a psychic child: He can remember, from the age of four or five years old, already having experiences with ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. Chris felt very early on that an entity's activity is determined simply by thought, by knowing what we are thinking and feeling through telepathy. He could see a ghost's movement from point to point in a house simply in reaction to his feelings and emotions.

From 1975 to 1979, Chris learned a good deal from a spirit guide named Henry, who communicated with him through a Ouija board. Henry told him twenty years before scientists confirmed this that there was basic plant and bacteria life on Jupiter's moon, Europa. Henry also told him things about other entities and people, and taught him lessons about the universe. Over the years, Chris has experienced guiding entities in angelic form, as lights, and simply as "divine presences" he could feel around him in times of need,

Chris began tinkering with different kinds of equipment while he was a child, looking for ways to get clear contact with ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. This interest culminated in introducing to enthusiasts, during an appearance on SyFy's Ghost Hunters series (in the episode about the Manson Murders), the fascinating use of a K2 meter and other electromagnetic field devices to set up a simple yes-no communication with an entity. This "direct response method" impressed me when I first experienced its use in my own encounter with an entity (see the lens on How To Meet A Ghost) and promises to lead to a number of devices that will make communication with intelligent entities much clearer and easier. We have entered an age where technology will determine paranormal proof, thanks to Chris and other engineers and techology designers who are working on these devices today.

Chris, along with co-host Gail Porter, sought out the well known ghosts for three years on the series Dead Famous, which can still be seen in over 15 countries. In addition to appearances on shows such as Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures, Chris lectures across country on his experiences with the paranormal.

Kim Russo, who has previously appeared in episodes of both Psychic Kids and Paranormal State, likes to be known professionally as The Happy Medium.. Beginning around the age of nine, she experienced visits from occasional entities both in her home and following her as she walked from school. At first, the visits scared her, so she knows well the main problem of any psychic child. With time she grew to know and be comfortable with the presence of spirits, and now, through her work, helps bring that level of comfort to her clients.

She likes to think of herself as a "psychic journalist," a translator of the language of the spirit world. She receives most of her information from direct telepathic impression from a spirit, or by gestures a spirit allows her to see
