Where Psychic Things Are Sensed

And Not Sensed

• The Cerebellum: is our center for sense and motor coordination. It takes input from all other centers of the brain and organizes the timing that makes our motor functions work together.
  
  But the Cerebellum also has other functions that make this the probable dispatching center for the psychic portal: It is also used in cognitive functions such as attention and language, and may be used to regulate emotional functions such as fear and joy.
• The Portal: Note that the psychic portal is located at the cerebellum.
• The Pineal Gland: From all of the ideas of the pineal gland being the third eye, you would think it was in the front of the brain between the eyes - and it isn't! It is not an eye organ at all - it is an endocrinal gland that secretes melatonin, a hormone that regulates our sleep and our seasonal cycles. Its cells, pinealocytes, are photosensitive so that the gland does react to the presence or absence of light around us, but only in order to dispense the melatonin correctly.
  
  Pinealocytes, in other animals (reptiles), do form parietal or third eyes to better sense light, so that the cold blooded animals can better find the heat that they need, These parietal eyes are only for sensing light, not vision. There are theories that once they did have vision capabilities, but I think it is far more likely that their heat sensing capabilities were far more important during colder ages, and they were more developed for that purpose.
  
  The argument that the pinealocytes are photosensitive, therefore the pineal gland can be a third eye, doesn't hold up when you consider that the cells in our skin, particularly the cells within freckles, are also photosensitive. If all photosensitive cells were prone to vision we'd be covered with eyes...
• The Cerebrum: This is the main portion of the brain. We're not going to go into the different areas: See the standard chart for where different sensory information is processed and you will get the idea just how much happens within this part of our nervous system. You will also see that most of what we use for our psychic sensing is processed in the rear of the cerebrum.
  
  The Cerebrum (and the cerebellum) are divided into two hemispheres, which we think of simply as left brain and right brain, each with characteristic functions that follow the concept of yin yang - male characteristics and female characteristics.
• The Hypothalamus: This is the center of the endocrinal system and automatic functions. This is not a communication center.
• The Frontal Lobe: This is where your emotions are controlled. This is also where your beliefs begin, and are processed in the anterior insula (front) of the cerebral cortex, which is a sheath of neural tissue that covers the outside of the brain.
  
  This is very important to remember: Your belief system, based on your philosophical or spiritual choices, can act like a gatekeeper, including or discarding information that is perceived through the emotional centers of the frontal lobes. This is stated in a theory called Morton's Demon. To put it simply: If you don't believe it, you don't see it! So if you concentrate your psychic perception through your emotional centers, thinking that is where your third eye resides - you're going to be less likely to receive clear psychic information. Everything you take in will be colored by your beliefs.
  
  This is why I teach people to park their beliefs as much as possible when working on their psychic perception.
• The Pituitary Gland: Secretes hormones for a number of automatic functions, including blood pressure. It is not part of the psychic communication system but its functions can be affected by emotional output.
• The Pons and Brain Stem The brain stem is our primitive brain, center of all our basic functions. It includes the medulla oblongata, pons, and midbrain. For our purposes, I'm going to address the functions of the pons. The pons relays signals from the cerebrum to the cerebellum. When the psychic portal is open, very often we perceive the information we are getting as things we relate to, drawing signals from our memories, located in the cerebrum, and mixing them with the information we are taking in. For example, in a psychic exercise I set up using the artist Dora Carrington as the subject, the person who got the most correct hits (in fact, one of the few people I've ever seen get a very high score) got all of her information according to images drawn from her memories: "Dora the Explorer" and the Carrington family of "Dynasty" came to mind! She thought she was getting a jumble of nonsense: I knew how all the pieces fit together, and every bit of her "nonsense" fit the information I had!
  
  In another example: John Edward once got stumped as to why he was seeing a flash of Sean Connery. The communicating entity's name ended up being Sean...
• The Spinal Cord: I think of this as the antenna. My first signals to pay attention always come through the nerves in my spine. When I meditate to open the portal, I envision a vibrating energy starting from the base of my spine slowly working its vibration up, using the images of the bones of my vertebrae to symbolize my psychic protection, until the vibration reaches the base of my skull, becomes a "hand," and opens the portal door.
