PTSD Treatment

PTSD treatment comes in all forms. There's one-on-one counseling, group therapy, home relaxation therapy, drug therapy and a few others. If you or someone you know if suffering from PTSD, you may have already experienced some or all of these. If you haven't sought out help, you have to realize that PTSD is not something that you want to try and resolve yourself. Also, PTSD affects not only you but also those around you so if not for you, then do it for your loved ones.

My Experience With PTSD

When I got home from my tour overseas, I generally had a very difficult time going out to crowded places like a mall or restaurant. It was very uncomfortable being surrounded by people and I didn't go out much as a result. The only time you could find me in public places was if I had consumed entirely to much alcohol, which was happening more and more frequently. I never experienced sudden flashbacks, but nightmares frequented my dreams and I had a very difficult time sleeping unless I had passed out from to much alcohol or passed out from exhaustion. I also used to be an avid reader prior to my tour, but not I couldn't even read an entire article in Maxim magazine as I couldn't focus long enough to get through it. It was incredibly frustrating to say the least. On top of all that, my friends and family could barely stand being around me. I was irritable, moody, angry....just generally unpleasant to be around and I wasn't getting any better

I Try PTSD Treatment

I really wasn't aware I needed PTSD treatment. I figured I just needed some time to unwind after my tour, but I never got any better. Eventually, I received a letter from my local Vet Center inviting me to take a part in the treatment program. Thankfully, I decided that it couldn't hurt and it was free, so I went to meet with the counselor. It was amazing what just talking to someone could do for me. After a few months of 1-on-1 with a counselor as well as some group therapy, I had calmed down quite a bit and I could sleep pretty well at night again.

Why The Vet Center's PTSD Treatment Wasn't Enough

Good but not enough

The Vet Center's PTSD treatment helped me out immensely and if nothing else, I encourage you to find the one closest to you. The only problem with the Vet Center was they could only do so much for me, there's just to many people to treat and their counselors don't have the face time and training of a PTSD treatment specialist.

I was much better off and I was finally comfortable with going in public and I had stopped drinking alcohol to self medicate. But I was still prone to bouts of anger and moodiness and I really wanted to feel normal again. After a lot of looking around online, I eventually came across the resource at Bright Life. This was, in a word, amazing. If you want a great PTSD treatment that really works, check out Bright Life. It's a wonderful program and they guarantee their results.
