I pulled my kids out of school and 'home schooled' them. Their curriculum was simply to read. No workbooks. My oldest daughter teaches music and last week gave a speach on practicing at a music teachers convention in Minnesota. My oldest son recently got his masters in Physics and Math from Indian State and is working on his Phd. He also is an accomplished violinist. I take no credit for any of their accomplishments. I just take credit for making it possible. Public school would have had an entirely different outcome. They CHOSE the course their lives have taken (from age 5). It was not rammed down their throats. We just stood back and watched and did not interfere or put up roadblocks. Thinking was encouraged.

Hi, Jack. I really enjoyed your squidoo lens on public education in the USA. Wow. Great job! I noticed it because it was one of the links that showed up on one of my lenses about schools.

I am not the first to say it, But I think it is time to encourage the separation of school and state.
