Why I Need A Public Arrest Record
As a businessman, I need to be careful as to who I hire. For example, if I would not want to hire someone who has an arrest on their record for drunk driving. That is why I conduct a public arrest record search every time I hire anyone.
Why I am so careful? A few years ago, I hired someone to do maintenance at one of my offices. He robbed me blind. He robbed his former employer as well. Had I done looked at his public arrest record, I never would have hired him.
As bad as it was, I did learn something from the whole experience. I learned that a public arrest record can help you weed out people who shouldn't be allowed to do certain things. Maybe it will help you before its too late.
Where To Find A Public Arrest Record
When I first started looking for the public arrest record of every person who applied for a job with me, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know how hard the information would be to find, how long it would take, or what it would even tell me.Then, I found CourtRecords.org, which gave me information like:
CourtRecords.org was able to give me this information just minutes after I submitted my first search online.
Today, I use it all the time and I wouldn't hire anyone without performing a public arrest record check...even my own mother! Ok maybe not my own mother :)
How To Obtain A Public Arrest Record Legally And Quickly
Did you know that your arrest record is public? Yep, it sure is. Anybody and everybody can look you up if they wanted to. If you want you can actually do the same, if you have the time and the money. A public arrest record will show the world who was arrested, for what, and who the victim was, as well as when the crime was committed. For example, it would show that Bob Jones was arrested for assaulting Tom Smith by slapping him in a nightclub on December 23, 1976. If the record is old enough that the person went to court, then things could sticky. If they are found to be not guilty, they can have the records sealed up, and when asked if they've ever been arrested, they can say 'no' without legal repercussions. On the other hand, a rap sheet is not available as public record. Rap sheets are only available for law enforcement and the courts. A rap sheet, for those who don't know, is a much more detailed public arrest record that also includes a detailed description of the criminal.
The people whose records you might have trouble find are juveniles. Juveniles will have their records protected very well, and once they turn 18, the records are expunged and it's like nothing ever happened. On the other hand, pedophiles are the easiest to find. Every local and state government hates pedophiles with a passion, so they will actually go out of their way to show you that these people have been arrested for child molestation. The government agencies might even send you an arrest record the day that they move, just for safety's sake.
If you are selling firearms, then a public arrest record is exactly what you need. If the potential buyer wants to buy a firearm and has an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon, even if it has not gone to court yet, refuse the sale. This person is a security risk to anyone that he or she comes into contact with. Do you want that on your conscience?
As you can see, a public arrest record can be a very good and useful tool that almost anyone can use, that has a little patience. Whatever your reasons are for searching a record is nobody's business, but make sure you do it right. You never want to mix up two people with the same name and deny employment to a deserving person.
