Publish your art online - For Free

I am not making any claims here that you will sell your art or even reproductions of your art, however I have been successful in a small way over the years with certain pieces of work.

One photograph in particular, 'Snow Steps', featured here, sells as Christmas cards every year from Greeting Card Universe and a felt tip colour picture of a cat has sold at Zazzle as cards. I also won a signed book from TUT.com in an email card competition, with a piece of digital art, 'Red Sun'.

This is in itself is not amazing, I know, probably as I do not make any effort to promote my art, But I am sure this does not apply to you and I hope to hear of everyone's career taking leaps and bounds in the coming years. So please keep me informed of your progress

Before you can upload your art to any website it must be either scanned into your computer or if it is too large, a digital photograph taken and stored on your PC.

The painting featured here was photographed by placing it on the floor and taking the picture from above. The digital image was then downloaded from the camera onto my PC and the resolution adjusted in Photoshop.

It is important not to alter the resolution so that the image loses its clarity, but each art website has rules governing the size of image that can be downloaded. An image that has been altered too much will also be restricted as to the size of finished product that can be produced whether as greeting cards or canvas prints.

A lot of trial and error may be needed to get it right. On the other hand, some images especially straight photographs seem to fit the bill perfectly every time.
