Easy Starter Recipes

The following two recipes are some of our favorites, and they are very easy to make

Pizza Pudgie Pie
Ingredients:
Sliced Bread, white or wheat, 2 slices per sandwich
Jar of pizza sauce
Pepperoni
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Butter spread

Directions:
Start by spreading a layer of butter spread on two slices of bread. Place one slice, butter side down, on one half of the pie iron. Add a healthy spoon full of sauce, about ΒΌ cup mozzarella cheese, and a few slices of pepperoni. Place other slice of bread on top butter side up. Close and secure pie iron. Cook over flame or hot coals, checking sandwich until golden brown. Enjoy!

Egg 'N Cheese Pie
Ingredients:
Sliced Bread, white or wheat, 2 slices per sandwich
1 egg per sandwich
1 slice of cheese per sandwich

Directions:
Start by spreading a layer of butter spread on two slices of bread. Place one slice, butter side down, on one half of the pie iron. Crack egg on top of bread, break the yoke if you prefer, I like mine whole. Add one slice of cheese over egg and place other slice of bread, butter side up on top. Close and secure pie iron. The secret to cooking this type of pie is to cook it slowly over a low to medium heat. So you don't want to hold it in the hottest part of the fire. Open pie iron and test with fork to make sure egg is cooked. Enjoy!

The key to cooking a perfect pudgie pie is continuous turning of the iron and checking to make sure sides are turning a nice golden brown. And of course lots and lots of practice!

I've not ever made a pudgie pie, so I can't say I have a favorite. BUT, if I had to guess I think a ham, cheese, and pickle with sandwich (Cuban) would satisfy my cravings. Hmmm. Could go for one now, actually.
