Ah, yes indeed how ironic -- it is the many sides of Pug the Cat -- a photo caption contest!

Well, hi there ... I'm so glad you dropped by today. I am Pug the Cat, the country club cat, who stumbled into the world of Giant Squid JaguarJulie. Welcome to my crazy mixed up world! Why crazy and mixed up? Well not so long ago, I was doing just fine and then something happened to rock my world. I stumbled into the front yard and found I couldn't get up. I had JaguarJulie and her neighbors all fooled as they thought I had a broken leg. Well, she took me in -- yeah -- and now I am enjoying the country club life. Oh, what's wrong with me? Well you'll have to read on and while you are at it, be sure to partake of the photo caption contest and caption me! Thank you.

Pug the Cat -- Yesterday vs. Today

Why Pug the Cat agreed to appear today!

Who doesn't like a contest -- a photo caption contest?

Well, although I have been really under the weather lately, I just had to drop by to let you see what a cute cat I really am. I've always been a rather quiet cat who likes to hang with Callie and Bug-Eye. But something happened to make me sick and it threw my world into a real tizzy! JaguarJulie took me to First Coast No More Homeless Pets for an examination. It was there that they made the initial diagnosis of vestibular disease. I was pretty thankful not to have a broken leg.

Then I went to Saint Francis Animal Hospital where they drew a lot of blood and tried to get me to pee -- but I refused. Drat, that meant a return trip ... so I finally gave it up ... the pee that is! For over a week I was submitted to meds, yeck! Prednisone, Clavamox drops and Animax. I'm still not feeling like my old self -- that's the bad news. The good news? I'm now inside!

Pug the Cat -- Having a Good Day!

I can look cute you know.

Yes, at one time, I was quite the cutie ... and then life set in. Here I was minding my own business. Hanging with Callie and Bug-Eye.

Am I so sophisticated -- yes I am!

Hey, it's Me, Pug the Cat in my very own Video!

Trying to educate everyone about vestibular disease.

Pug the Cat Vestibular Disease - June 10, 2009

Pug the cat after one week -- she was found the evening of June 3rd on our front lawn. Originally, it was thought that she had a broken back right leg because she could not sit, stand, or walk without falling over. She was taken to FCNMHP on June 5th and then to Saint Francis Animal Hospital. A diagnosis of vestibular disease was rendered. She is being treated with Prednisone 5mg, Clavamox Drops 1ml 2x/daily, and Animax ointment for her ears. She is now able to sit, stand, and walk although quite wobbly; her head tilts to one side and she tends to walk to her right and in circles. Pug seems to be falling less, but when she shakes her head, she loses her balance and falls on her side.

Hey it's Me, Pug the Cat in another Video!

Pug the Cat vestibular disease June 10, 2009

Pug the Cat was found the evening of June 3, 2009 on our front lawn by a neighbor who thought she had a broken back right leg. After being taken to First Coast No More Homeless Pets for care on June 5th, it was suggested that she didn't have a broken leg, but vestibular disease. She was then taken that same day to Saint Francis Animal Hospital. $300 and one week later, we are treating her for vestibular disease. She can finally stand and walk, but lists badly to the right and falls a lot to the floor. She's got the tilted head syndrome too. She is one of the many strays from the feral cat colony that we manage -- she has 2 females that she 'hangs' with too -- Callie and Bug-Eye. She's not been an indoor cat, but has been indoors previously after her spaying and when we treated her for a deep gash wound to her left side. She's also got a cataract in her left eye. We feel particularly attached to her because we also care for her sister, Precious. PS This is my very first video you all -- so I am working on perfecting my techniques.
