Pumpkin Circle: The Story of a Garden
Learning The Life Cycle of a Pumpkin
Ah, the pumpkin. There is an almost magical attraction between children and pumpkins. Every year millions of kids become excited about getting a pumpkin. It is no average fruit.
The Pumpkin Circle: The Story of a Garden tells, with beautiful bold photos, how a pumpkin grows. It gives a general overview of the plants life cycle all the way through to rotting and turning back into soil so a new pumpkin can grow from it.
This is done in light verse, with a bit of rhyme. It is great for even the very youngest child, as there are not too many words on each page.
The Pumpkin Circle gives ample room for you to discuss pumpkins and growing plants with your child. The photos give additional information for the kids to process and enjoy, so there are plenty of chances for asking questions - both directions.
I would recommend this book for children ages 2 - 7, for use in both one-on-one reading, and in classroom group setting.
As long as stories like Cinderella and It's a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown keep that pumpkin magic alive, kids will love to learn about the pumpkin, and what a great chance to learn a little about life science and agriculture at the same time.
