5 Whipped Cream Pumpkin Pie Toppings

Flavored Whipped Cream Recipes

The classic way to top pumpkin pie is with whipped cream.

You can use store-bought whipped cream from a can, frozen whipped topping or make your own homemade whipped cream (trust me - it's easy with this whipped cream recipe).

Using any of these whipped creams as a base, here are 5 flavored whipped cream toppings for pumpkin pie that will rock your world.

Start with 2-3 cups of store-bought or homemade whipped cream. If making homemade whipped cream, add the flavorings before you beat the cream.

1. Cinnamon Spiced Whipped Cream - Stir in 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. cloves.

2. Orange Whipped Cream - Add 1 tsp. orange extract and the zest of 1 orange.

3. Bourbon Whipped Cream - Add 2 tsp. bourbon. If the recipe calls for vanilla extract, leave it out.

4. Chocolate Whipped Cream - Add 1 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar (in addition to whatever sugar the recipe calls for). Dust with additional cocoa powder before serving.

5. Rum Spiced Whipped Cream - Stir in 1 Tbsp. rum and 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice.

2 Nut Toppings for Pumpkin Pie

Easy Ways to Add Crunch to Your Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Pumpkin Pecan PiePumpkin and nuts are a natural pairing, and these nut toppings for pumpkin pie are an easy way to enjoy the combination:

1) Pumpkin Pecan Pie Recipe - Like two pies in one! A pumpkin layer is topped with a pecan pie filling layer. Yum!

2) Toasted Walnuts - Place chopped walnuts in a dry skillet, and toast, stirring occasionally, over low heat until golden brown and fragrant. Important! Watch the nuts carefully - they can go from wonderfully toasty to burned in seconds.

Sprinkle toasted walnuts over pumpkin pie, or stir into caramel sauce and then drizzle over pumpkin pie for a really sweet treat.

3 Crumb Toppings for Pumpkin Pie

Sweet and Crunchy

Pumpkin Pie with Maple Crumb ToppingCrumb toppings add texture, flavor and sweetness to pumpkin pie. Here are 3 of my favorite crumb-topped pumpkin pie recipes:

1) Pumpkin Pie with Maple Crumb Topping - A crumb cake-style topping made with crystallized ginger is added to the pumpkin pie, then drizzled with maple syrup in this gourmet pumpkin pie recipe.

2) Pumpkin Pie with Gingersnap Topping - This pumpkin pie is for people who really like crumb crust pies, but don't want to mess with a classic. The crust for this pie is a traditional pastry crust, but the topping is gingersnap crumbs and crushed pecans.

3) Pumpkin Streusel Pie - A brown sugar, butter and walnut topping is baked on top of the pie.

I am looking for a topping I can add to a pumpkin pie that has already been baked. The top split and the pies are for holiday gifts. Is there something I can add to cover it and dress it up a bit?

One of the flavored whipped cream toppings will work great. Just beat heavy cream with an electric mixer (or whisk if you're strong!) and add a little pumpkin pie spice, brandy, vanilla or cinnamon.
