Halloween Pumpkins
I don't know when my pumpkin obsession started, maybe as a child growing up in New England? I do know that fall didn't officially begin for me until I had my first bite of pumpkin pie. Picking out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch was almost as much fun as my birthday. I love growing pumpkins, pumpkin carving, pumpkin stencils, cooking and baking with pumpkin, writing about pumpkins and collecting vintage images of pumpkins. I even have a pretty big collection of pumpkin photography!

In the United States pumpkins are usually limited to sweet desserts but the rest of the world eats pumpkins in savory and sweet dishes.Why eat pumpkins?
Pumpkins are a healthy food! Pumpkins are high in potassium and Vitamins A, E and C. And pumpkins are low in fat and high in fiber. Recent studies have even suggested that pumpkin seeds which are high in protein and zinc can help lower cholesterol levels. Go pumpkins!

How To Pick A Pumpkin
Find One that will last through Halloween!
*Choose a pumpkin that is firm, without blemishes or cuts.*Look for a pumpkin that has a strong stem. Stems will keep the pumpkin fresh.
*Watch the temperature when you bring your pumpkins home. Keep the pumpkin cool, not in direct sunlight and not outside if it may freeze.

- Once the cooler weather arrives, I start to crave pumpkin pie and soup. I love it anytime of the year, but it seems to be associated with fall and winter for sure.
I'd also like to thank you for blessing one of my lenses. It was a special treat for me this morning.
