Painted Pumpkin Designs

If you love the Fall season, and Halloween in particular, then you're certainly not alone. Many folks fondly rank this season as their favorite of them all. And who can blame them? I count myself among them for one. I really enjoy the opportunity to finally decorate my home again after a long spring and summer of aesthetically weak holidays (at least when it comes to going wild with outdoor theme displays, lights, etc., you get the idea). There is just only so much you can do decorating-wise when it comes to Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's and the 4th of July as examples.
So if you're like many fall enthusiasts who enjoy fall themes in decorating, you likely also enjoy decorating for Halloween as your big focal point. And decorating for Halloween typically means the yearly carving of the pumpkins, which is great! But one thing that I've always found disappointing is spending and hour or two, maybe even three, carving a very special pumpkin design only to have that big, orange squash going squishy in only a few weeks, and after all that painstaking work!
One of the best, and increasingly popular ways to personalize those pumpkins nowadays is by putting down the knives and picking up the brushes instead. Yes, instead of gutting the gourds, many people would much rather splash them up with a little makeup so to speak. Why not try pumpkin painting this year?

Pumpkin painting is an extremely fun alternative to pumpkin carving. A big advantage of painting is the unlimited flexibility and freedom in creativity to do just about anything you like! Faces, designs, polka-dots, whatever you want. The possibilities are endless. Make a mistake "carving" that special design and you're probably done or going to have to start over with a fresh pumpkin. Painting allows you to easily adjust or adapt your design with no harm done.
One other big plus to painting over carving is the longevity your pumpkin friend will provide you. Carving usually results in a short-lived relationship with your creations on display. With painting, you enjoy the likelihood that your new masterpieces may well last into the Thanksgiving holiday or beyond if you're really lucky.
Pumpkin Painting does take some experience to get really good at it. But you'd probably be surprised to discover how good you will get at it and how quickly as well. It just takes a little practice, some creativity and an open mind to try something a little different over that old time-tested pumpkin carving tradition.
