A Pumpkin Video To Set The Mood...

Hallows' Eve and the Pumpkin Dream

Adam C. Sager

Adam C. Sager and his daughter set out to make a Halloween film for family and friends and this short but extremely well done video, Hallows' Eve and the Pumpkin Dream, was the result.

Their video was so well done that it actually earned a page for itself on IMDb, where they describe the film as "Hallows' Eve and the Pumpkin Dream awakens the childlike fascination and terror surrounding the creepiest day of the year--Halloween--as a young girl ventures into the night."

I know you will enjoy this short but eerie Halloween film...

Spookley the Square Pumpkin (2004)

Spookley The Square Pumpkin

Rated G, Spookley is a story about a pumpkin who is teased about his unusual shape. He is befriended by three funny spiders who manage to convince Spookley that regardless of his shape, he could be Pick of the Patch on Halloween. Of course, there are a couple of bullies who tease him because of his squareness but Spookley eventually discovers that "it's fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it's better to be a square!"

A Happy Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Apron For Children (and Adults)

(You'll all be wanting a Halloween apron when you carve your pumpkin or when you make these cookies!)

Stephen's Pumpkin Cookies

Baking is fun! Check out Stephen's Pumpkin Cookies.

pumpkin-cookiesOf course your child could choose to make Stephen's Pumpkin Cookies rather than a pumpkin pie...the way Stephen and his brother did when his mother and father were out for awhile! Whether or not your child can make these cookies ALONE will depend upon their age and culinary capabilities but if he or she is not able to do them alone, it would surely be fun to make them together! (And note, Stephen even has his apron on! I'm not sure if it is a Halloween apron or not but it is obviously doing the job it was intended for!)

Record your voice reading the book 10 Little Pumpkins.

Recordable Storybook For Halloween

A recordable storybook would be a special treat for Halloween. Record your voice reading the story 10 Little Pumpkins and your children or grandchildren will listen over and over again. The book could be given to children to read, however, I have seen the reading level rated for children 9 to 12 years of age.

The Haunted Clock Tower Board Game

Prolong the Halloween fun with a great Halloween board game.

Unfortunately, I could not find an excellent choice in board game that featured pumpkins. I do think that playing a Halloween game is a great way to extend the Halloween fun in your home. We played this game all year long. The Haunted Clock Tower is a quality Ravensburger game, which is recommended for children aged five years old and up.

The box reads, "At midnight, the clock in the haunted tower rings out twelve times. At this signal the young ghosts take over the tower. Once in the tower, the ghosts begin their party. They sneak up and down the spiraling staircase and through the many rooms, using the trapdoors and hidden entrances to secret passages. They hide in old closets and dark corners. If you enter the tower after midnight you can get quite a scare -- but the ghosts are really friendly creatures who are just having fun! When playing The Haunted Clock Tower, players do not compete to win, but work together to help the ghosts reach the clock tower by midnight. If all the ghosts get there in time, the party can begin and the game is won."

The Haunted Clock Tower is not available from Amazon. It is, however, sometimes available from sellers on eBay by following these links:
