I love that TED video! Daniel Goleman's work is so important and you have presented your thoughts on emotional intelligence and Goleman's work beautifully. You might like the book, Mindsight by Dan Siegel about how meditation can help to increase our emotional intelligence. Goleman wrote the introduction and I did a Squidoo review of the book if you're interested.

Having to deal with psychos like this is why I work for myself. I'll do whatever it takes to steer clear of toxic people. They are insidious and will mess up your outlook as sure as a sunny day turning stormy.

I'm "between jobs" at the moment, so I can't comment on the question - but I wanted to say that the video of Dan at the Ted Talks was moving.

Hmmm, you know -- I actually have the book, "Working with Emotional Intelligence." I got it years ago when I was a member of a monthly book club.

Since I am now self-employed, I certainly work in a very socially/emotionally intelligent workplace - my home! But over the 30 plus years I was in the workforce, I worked for some real idiots. I also had some wonderful socially and emotionally intelligent supervisors. I treasure my work time with the good ones, and am sad that I wasted any time at all with the bad ones!

Great lens Kate - I'm a fan of Daniel Goleman too!
