You've Captured the Memories, Now Share Them

DVD Authoring is a process that creates a finished look to your photos and video clips. This is growing increasingly popular among families who have a myriad of photos on their computer that they would love to show off, or share with others. Authoring can ad transitions, captions, subtitles, chapter selection, and so many more special effects to make your photos and videos extra special.

If you're looking for that great gift for your parents or grandparents, your best friend's wedding, or graduation, make them a DVD!

It's a gift that anyone with a heart is sure to love!

What exactly can you do?

The better question would be, what can't I do? I'm not saying that I know all that there is to know about video production and DVD authoring, but I'm always willing to learn new things and try new techniques.

One of the great things about creating things is getting input from other people, and you may very well have an amazing idea that I simply hadn't thought of.

Talk to me about what you're looking for, and what you want, and I'll let you know if I think it's possible.

What software do you use?

I use Adobe Premiere Pro for most of the video editing work. I also have available Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Encore and Adobe Photoshop to create effects for your video as you desire.

How much does all this cost?

Since this is such a highly personalized project, it is difficult to quote a price for someone without knowing what they are looking for.

To get an estimation of what it may cost, here are some general guidelines:

.10 for each picture or video clip available in digital format
.15 for each picture that needs to be scanned into a digital format
.05 for each caption or title
.50 cents for each royalty-free song used. Song times range from around 3 minuts to 5 minutes.

Those are the general guidelines, but once I know what you want, I can quote you a price and will guarantee that price unless there are major changes to the original project.

My goal is to make you a DVD that you can enjoy and share, for any reason.

How do you get my picture and video files?

In this wonderful day and age of digital media, there are many options for the exchange of files.

There are services that allow you to upload your files to the internet and for me to download them, password protected. You can also put your files on a DVD and mail them to me. I can give you my messenger ID's and they can be exchanged that way. If you're local enough, I can meet you and simply copy the files to a flash media drive and take a copy with me.

If the files are not digital ones, they would, of course, need to be mailed. All photos will be returned in original condition.

How do you make my video exactly how I want it?

I have a very detailed form for you to fill out regarding captions, order of photos, special effects, DVD chapters, desired music, and anything else you would like. I will follow the form exactly to your specifications in order to create the best video for you.

Upon my completion of the video, I will give you access to it for five days under a password-protected account. You will have this time to review the video for spelling errors (yes, unfortunately they DO happen sometimes) or simply areas of the video that were not what you had in mind.

You can also simply give me a heap of photos and videos and allow me to put them together in a way that I feel flows well and looks good. However, once the video is uploaded for your review, only spelling errors will be corrected if you choose to go this route.

So, how do I get this started?

Once you let me know that you are interested in me making a video for you, I will send you the detailed form to get your photos and videos organized. I can either e-mail it to you or send it in the mail, depending on your access to a computer and printer.

Once I receive the form back from you, I will review it and contact you for clarification if any is needed. At that time I will also provide you with a quote and possibly offer suggestions based on what it is that I think you want.

After a price has been agreed upon, arrangements will be made to get the photos and videos from you. At that time, a contract will be presented to you to be returned with your videos. I also require at that time a non-refundable deposit of 25.00, which will be applied to your end cost.

What kind of music can you use?

I have access to various royalty-free music that will be used based on the mood and subject of your video.

Commercial music can be used with written confirmation that you yourself own that title in either digital or other format. This is included as part of the contract.

I can also use music created by you, as long as I am able to be given a copy by your or access it for download from another source.

How long does this take?

Turn-around time will all very based on the type of project. Smaller projects may only take a few hours from start to finish and can be ready for your review shortly after getting the files. Longer projects can take several days to several weeks, depending on how extensive they are.

I can give you a rough estimate of the time it will take during the estimate phase, and a final completion date will be included as part of the contract.
