How to Take Care of your Dog

Basic and relevent for pups and adult dogs

Dogs are known as mans best friend but for man to be dogs best friend you must know how to take care of your dog. Here I will explain how to give your dog all the love and attention they need.

The Bond that can come between a person and a dog can be extremely strong, especially if that bond had been strengthened living with each other for many years, I personally cried after loosing a family dog that had been like a best friend to me from my birth till I was 14 years old, when he was hit by a car .

Dogs serve many different needs for people. Some people get a dog because they are lonely and need a loyal friend or because they want a dog to protect the home. A dog that is taken good care of and given attention to regularly will give his life to help protect his home and his owner. For the blind a dog can be a pair of eyes to help them get around and for the police and army a dog can be an important tool and a loyal partner, with a nose that nothing can beat. And traditional farming and hunting dogs serve important roles in rural settings.

The first thing you need to know about taking care of a dog is that dogs need lots of exercise. This is the same for large dogs and small dogs. All dogs need to be let out at least once every 8 hours and should given at least a 20 minute walk to give the dog some fresh air, exercise and a chance to relieve themselves.

It is also important to play with the dog on a regular basis. This can mean going to the park on a weekend or day off and having a good game of fetch, tossing the ball around in your back yard or just wrestling on the ground with the dog, just make sure if you are ruff housing with a little dog that you don't accidentally hurt the dog. Playing with the dog for a half hour a day, is not only good for the dogs physical health but a dog that is played with regularly is mentally healthier and less likely to become a depressed dog, it also lowers your blood pressure as well and it will form an unbreakable bond between you and your pup, which will extend to your family if you should start having one after having the dog.

What you feed your dog is very important to the dogs continued good health. The better dog foods will be marked for what are groups the food is appropriate for. Younger dogs need certain vitamins and minerals in larger amounts then an adult dog, and the same goes for an elderly dog they need more calcium in their food to help protect their bones and joints. Feeding your dog the wrong food can stunt the dog's growth and opens the dog to a larger risk of surgery when they are older.Click Here!

If you have a young puppy, I recommend that you wait until he's at least 8 weeks old to begin formal training.

Before you begin the formal training lessons with a dog of any age, please plan to follow these keys to success:

Before you begin the formal training lessons with a dog of any age, please plan to follow these keys to success:

1. Be patient. Each dog is unique, and can only learn at his own pace. Some dogs learn quickly; others take more time. Patience is indeed a virtue when it comes to effective dog training!

2. Be kind. This goes hand-in-paw with "Be patient." Don't lose your temper if your dog doesn't "get it" right away, or appears to be ignoring you. Please do not punish your dog for not learning quickly enough. As a matter of fact, don't punish your dog at all. (I,ll be giving you effective ways to stop or prevent inappropriate behavior-without punishment in my weekly news letter.)

3. Be flexible. If your dog is struggling to learn, be willing to change your training routine. The location may be too distracting. The time of day may be too close (or far from) feeding time. The length of your training session may be too long (or too short). The training exercises may need to be broken down into smaller, simpler steps. Remember, each dog is unique. Be flexible and willing to do whatever you can to help your dog succeed.

4. Be generous. Be generous with your rewards and your time. Always reward your dog's correct responses generously. Don't be stingy with the treats-he's worked hard and deserves a generous reward! And commit ample time to your training lessons. We're all busy these days, but this is "quality time" for you and your dog. You'll both enjoy and benefit from the lessons, so make sure your schedule is adjusted accordingly!
Rewards
One of the biggest keys to success with positive reinforcement training is rewarding your dog properly. This means giving him something he loves at exactly the right moment.
Your first task is to figure out what kind of reward will best motivate your dog.

Basic Understanding Of A Pup,s Development (0-7 weeks)

Pups are growing animals. When they are infantile, they be taught much and what is learned possesses a lasting impression. Even sexual practices, can be affected by early experience . All puppies, regardless of breed, experience many phases as they get bigger and grow, physically, psychologically, and emotionally. Psychologists have the phrase "crucial period" to explain this time in a dog's life certain episodes have a long term effect upon their well-being and development. Grasping each of these critical aspects as well as a dog's stage development would assist you to fully grasp your pups conduct and ways to manage him or her during these distinctive periods. Likewise, dogs profit greatly once their owners understand their development.

Puppies (3 - 6 Weeks) While in the Infant period, dogs come out alone from the litter. They venture into the surrounding environment. This growth from the litter is usually gradual in addition to a perpetual discovering experience. While during this stage of growth pups gain knowledge of simple behavior ways centered on dogs. While playing, they will rehearse distinctive physical poses, learning just what the poses mean and just how they impact their own mother and litter mates. They will learn what it is like to bite and be bitten, what snarling and also other vocalizations suggest and how to make use to set up social connections with other pups. Such learning and undertaking tempers their very own biting and vocalizing. From the age of 5 weeks, the mother educates her puppies general manners. They learn how to be submissive to her leadership as well as which habits are okay. If necessary, she growls, snarls, or snaps at them as a form of discipline. When weaning the litter, for instance, the mother will discipline her puppies to make sure they will leave her alone. Because the mother disciplines them in a way that they plainly fully grasp, after a few times, the pups will respond to a mere glare from her. if a pup has not learned to simply accept leadership (and restraint) in its early interactivity with dogs, its training is usually more difficult. Puppies which are taken out of the nest too early generally are anxious, more prone to barking and biting, and less responsive to discipline. Regularly they are aggressive with other dogs. In general, a dog taken away from it's mother and litter mates before 7 weeks of age, would possibly not realize its potential as a dog and companion. To maximize the psychological and physical development of pups, they should remain in the nest with their mother and litter mates until ?7? weeks of age.

Dog kennels might be interior or outside,

They may also be all of shapes and materials. Typically the most popular outdoor canine residences can be uncomplicated wooden ones, simply composed by 4 walls a roof and a door. Cement canine houses are actually widely used as well and have been very popular means of dog housing for years as aluminium ones have but both have proven to be exceedingly inefficient dog kennels since they both were not comfortable for the pet. Cement dog houses have proven to be very cold during winter while aluminium dog houses are extremely hot in the sunny weather making those two options a very mean way to house your doggy friend.

Nowadays the most popular and efficient option for exterior dog houses is still wooden or, if you fancy luxury dog houses or want to make a custom one, you can build your dog a super cosy, isolated dog house, using the same architectural and design techniques as if building a mini house for yourself. Stop Your Dog Chewing Up Your Home

Stop Your Dog Chewing Up Your Home
Young dogs, and puppies are inclined to be very bad about biting. You see a litter of them, and every one of the ones which are awake are biting another one or themselves.
I am not even sure they understand that
if they are alone, as long as they quit biting, they will surely quit being bitten. At three to four months they will be getting their adult teeth, it also seems they spend every waking moment biting or chewing. One thing you are able to do
at that time is to knot and wet a piece of cloth. Then freeze it. The cooling will soothe the gums. Only let the puppy have it when you are there to watch it. I believe young pups favorite chew toy is another pup. Otherwise they settle for an individual they can. They keep hoping to find one who won't yelp, jerk their hand away, and leave.
you basically must persevere correcting them, hundreds of times, not dozens. One form i have applied in the past and also to great effect , is fill a smallish spray bottle with a solution of half water and half vinegar and once they start to chew furniture ,you or anything else you dont desire destroyed spray the dog in the mouth and nose area avoid the eyes the taste of the vinegar tends to put the dog off chewing. Provide sturdy, safe toys such as Kongs and Nylabones. Avoid things they could chew pieces off and choke on them. Keep them far from electrical cords. Crates are essential for many young dogs.
The pet stores are filled with toys that lots of dogs will quickly chew up into pieces they may choke on or cause intestinal blockages. For anybody who is not there to watch, stick with sturdy stuff such as Nylabones and Kongs.Kongs absolutely are a great toy cause you are able to fill the inside with tit bits and a
serving of peanut butter this really assists in keeping the dogs mind of chewing Keep a close eye on chew toys and quickly discard anything at all that is coming apart in pieces. Rawhide is incredibly bad because it swells after being swallowed, pigs ears
are a great little treat and keeps the animal busy for a long time I do not trust any one of the consumable chews. The dogs just gnaw them all the way down to a hazardous size too soon. These problems are the worst with, although not limited to, large, aggressive chewers such as Labs.and German Shepards ?and many more? other large dog breads
