Puppy Housetraining - Proven Strategies That Will Get Your Puppy Fully House Trained Fast!

Puppy housetraining is a task all of us dog lovers are required to undertake each time we bring a new young puppy into our lives. House training your puppy is not a pleasant experience but it's important to get it right from the first day your puppy arrives home.

Puppy housetraining is not a glamorous topic for which to build my first lens around, but it is a subject that creates much discussion and varying opinion. I personally don't believe housebreaking a puppy needs to be a complex or in any way difficult process.

The advice and instruction you find on this page has been put together by experts in the dog behavior and training world - and they will work for you and your puppy. I've used the housebreaking methods detailed below to successfully house train many of my own dogs.

My reason for developing this lens was to group together a select few puppy housetraining articles and also some vision that are proven to actually produce the results you are after - a fully house trained puppy in the shortest amount of time.

These methods are not a magical potion, the information on this page is great and has been proven to work but it won't somehow magically transform your puppy into a perfectly housebroken dog. But if you pick out the housetraining method that best suits your situation, follow it closely, are consistent in your training and exercise a little patience you will achieve the desired result.

The methods featured below have stood the test of time and stand up to even the most difficult little pups. They cut through the crap and provide clear expert advice and detailed step-by-step instruction for you to follow.

Pick out a suitable puppy housetraining schedule from the list below and stick to it and I'm sure you and your puppy will succeed!

10 General Truths About Puppy Potty Training

  1. Be realistic - don't expect your puppy to just know this stuff, you are dealing with a very young animal.
  2. Supervise your puppy whenever possible - your goal is to prevent the messy mistakes.
  3. When you can't supervise you must confine your puppy. Puppies cannot simply have a free run of the house.
  4. Create good toileting habits in your puppy as early as possible - it's much easier than trying to correct an established problem.
  5. Pick a spot where you want your dog to eliminate and stick to it - be consistent.
  6. Always encourage and reward desirable behavior - which is eliminating in the correct place.
  7. Punishment does not help the housebreaking process, forget about ever rubbing your puppies nose in it - that's called animal abuse.
  8. There will be mistakes along the way - simply make sure you clean them up thoroughly and make sure it doesn't happen again.
  9. Develop a feeding schedule and stick to a puppy housetraining routine - you'll find some good schedules to follow right here on this page.
